Tomorrow during the Sunday session we will consider one of the most important questions we can ask about education now as AI becomes more capable. What must we protect? What should we rethink? And what might we be holding onto unnecessarily? ⏰17:00 (SAST) 📍 youtube.com/@Fabacademic #SundaySessions #AIinEducation

It’s been a busy week, richly occupied & yet not heavy. The difference is choice. The week has been filled with work I have chosen and work I love, so accomplishment has not come at the cost of my peace. Tomorrow will be full as well as I will be supporting a beloved sister on the Mrs SA journey. On Sunday, the weekly session continues. Am grateful for the grace that makes this rhythm possible. #blessed #grateful #grace

There is no “big break” when building a career and that’s because careers compound. One step at a time. One project after another, one relationship, one qualification, one difficult assignment, one completed piece of work. Gannyane gannyane! Repeated over years. Think in decades and act weekly. Every week ask yourself: What am I doing THIS week for my future career? That’s the way to build a successful career! #CareerWednesdays

On a good Saturday, while my peers are somewhere beautiful, sipping champagne, I am here trying to keep up with the children. I do not do this to lose weight, but I do it because I enjoy it. It is harder than it looks, especially when you insist on matching the fittest among them. Joy is still the best trainer I know. I enjoy having fun and my body showcases the results.

AI has entered education, but has quality assurance caught up? That is the conversation I want us to have tomorrow. As AI changes how students learn, how academics teach and how work is assessed, we cannot only ask whether AI should be allowed. We must also ask whether our understanding of quality, standards and credible learning is keeping pace. Tomorrow, Sunday, at 17:00 SAST, I will be in conversation with Dr Violet Makuku, a quality assurance specialist. 📍 youtube.com/@Fabacademic I am particularly looking forward to hearing a perspective we do not hear often enough in conversations about AI in education: the quality assurance perspective. Educators, academics, students, university leaders and quality assurance practitioners, please join us LIVE and bring your questions & ideas. #SundaySessions #AIinEducation #QualityAssurance #FutureOfEducation

AI has entered education, now the harder question is, What does QUALITY look like in the age of AI? 🤔 This Sunday, I sit down with Dr Violet Makuku, a quality assurance specialist, to explore what AI means for standards, assessment, teaching, learning & the credibility of our qualifications. This is not a conversation about fearing AI and not a conversation about celebrating it blindly, but a conversation about quality. 🗓️ Sunday, 27 September, 17:00 SAST 📍 Sunday Sessions LIVE 👉🏽 youtube.com/@Fabacademic Teachers, academics, students, parents & education leaders, come and join us. Bring your questions! #SundaySessions #AIinEducation #QualityEducation #FutureOfEducation #ArtificialIntelligence #Education

No, some 60 year olds just refuse to be fat, ugly and unhappy. I am sorry that you find their way of being unbelievable. I wish you strength ❤️

There is a big difference between a career & a job. Your job is NOT your career. Jobs end, titles expire and institutions move on. Build a career that travels with you: expertise, credibility, relationships, reputation and a body of work. Ask yourself: If this job ended tomorrow, what would I still have? #CareerWednesdays #CareerAdvice #CareerGrowth #SelfLeadership

Today I am exactly 39 days to being 60 years old. I reached the highest offices in academia and in executive leadership without connections, but only grace. I am grateful to God. Now I am healthy, happy & living comfortably. My blood pressure today is 122/79. The horrible years of being on chronic medication are behind me. These are the best years of my adult life. I cannot wait to be fully 60 & to meet the life that still waits after 60. Grace has been sufficient. #Blessed #Grateful

This weekend I took my hair for service, the way we service a car or cultivate the soil. I don’t know what the process is called when we deal with hair. All I know is that Nomaxabiso, founder of @afropridehair, restored my crown with outstanding skill & gentle excellence. Some things we maintain because they carry us and some things we tend because they are ours. Thank you, Nomaxabiso. #Afropride #NaturalHair #CrownCare

Academics are using AI and their students are using it too. So what does responsible, productive use actually look like? Tomorrow I speak to some university academics about how THEY use AI, and whether they teach, challenge, restrict or allow their students to use it. We often debate whether academics should use AI. This Sunday, we ask a different question: What does PRODUCTIVE AI use actually look like in academia? Real examples of academic practice and an important conversation about where AI helps & where human judgement must lead. Ten years ago I bought these @drmartens as a gift from me to me, celebrating a move to Cape Town and a city I have always experienced as colourful, artistic and alive. They were the only pair with this artwork in the Rosebank store. I did not know then that they would become a conversation everywhere I go: Punta Cana, Abu Dhabi, London, Kingston, New York, Port-au-Prince, Marabastad, Hong Kong, Nairobi, Lagos, Havana, Seoul. They still introduce me. I do not follow trends. I create them. I am happy to be myself, even when that self is different. Sustainable style begins with buying what you love, not what is currently in fashion. #SustainableFashion #Authenticity
