That's a @ncaa loop hole that prep schools are exploiting in a big way. The @NFHS_Org tried to minimize the influence of AAU coaches by having the NCAA limit AAU live periods to just 3 small windows as well as giving the high schools two additional June live periods BUT ALL that did was redirect AAU types to start "prep schools" & directly compete with high schools in Fall and Winter periods. I think it backfired on them in a huge way by draining traditional high school teams of their premier talent
Itβs hard to blame kids and parents for choosing prep. Most prep programs are already playing in high-level showcases, while traditional high school basketball doesnβt start in many places until November. Thatβs a big head start.

They thought they were squeezing the "influence" of spring/summer AAU types by having the @ncaa prioritize the recruiting calendar to favor HS teams but what it caused was an explosion of "prep school teams" popping up in the Fall and Winter (many of whom are essentially AAU teams masquerading as "scholastic" teams)
Got a pop-up prep school here in our area. Kids literally dont attend actual classes - all online. Crazy.
