They also explain that if a player who is part of Atleti's plans is unhappy, the first step is to assess the situation and try to bring the two sides closer together.
However, if the player ultimately prefers to explore other options to continue his career, the club’s approach is to set a market value while demanding transparency in negotiations from both the interested club and the player’s representative.
If either party refuses to follow this approach, Arleti immediately cut off any form of discussion. From that point onward, any attempt to apply pressure will be met with outright rejection from Atlético Madrid.
Club officials openly state that this commitment to transparency and consistency ensures that any potential negotiations are fair and conducted within the market.
However, in Atlético’s view, Barcelona did exactly the OPPOSITE.
They negotiated behind Atlético Madrid’s back, approached the player before direct clashes between the two teams last season, spread false messages through media mouthpieces and employed all kinds of tactics that have nothing to do with how the club’s executive team and Board of Directors believe negotiations should be conducted.
And that is exactly why Atlético Madrid never considered reaching an agreement with Barcelona for Julián Alvarez.
