Fucking minus 20.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you that Manchester United are back in three days? 🔴

This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss. The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes. Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment. To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

Deserves every award he gets. Absolute hero.
Arise, Sir Kevin 🌹 Sir Kevin Sinfield received his knighthood at Windsor Castle today for his incredible MND fundraising efforts. So far, he has raised over £13 million for various MND charities in memory of his former @leedsrhinos teammate and close friend Rob Burrow. The England Men assistant coach recently completed his last #7in7 challenge, running seven ultramarathons in seven days and ultimately delivering the match ball to the @SuperLeague Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday. This effort alone raised over £1 million.

Yes, these people are called idiots & there’s a significant amount of them out there.
Something which makes me suspicious: People who are hyper-realist on some foreign policy issues and hyper-idealist on others. E.g thinking both 1) In the interests of peace, Ukraine should come to some compromise settlement with Russia, whether or not all their sovereign territory is returned (hyper-realist) and 2) The only acceptable outcome in the Middle East is a single secular Palestinian state where jews and Palestinians live peacefully side-by-side (hyper-idealist).

Can't understand why the First Time Buyers grant only applies to new builds. Its pricing so many of us out of the market. Loads of small run down cottages near me, which many would happily buy and do up. 2 bed new builds in my small village starting at 500K. Madness #budget2027

Great news
The Budget is set to include an additional €1 million for League of Ireland academies bringing the total allocation to around €4 million. An extra €1 million will be provided to the Gaelic Players Association (GPA).

The price of your weekly Supermac’s is set to rise considerably.
Eamonn Fitzmaurice has a brother in-law living in Connacht by the name of Paul Galvin. It wouldn’t be a big shock if he joins Eamonn’s management team. The big question though, is how much money are Galway after paying Eamonn to quit his cushy RTE and Examiner gigs to agree to a 7 hour commute for every training session. Are the rumours of a helicopter true?🚁 Best, Purty Landers.

Julius Caesar defeated the Gauls at Alesia today in 52 BC. He famously built two walls during the siege, one to encircle Alesia and the other to defend against a relief army. Vercingetorix had no more moves, and surrendered to the Romans unconditionally.

One of the oddest things about Irish politics is that the parties and politicians who are likeliest to define Irish identity by its anti-Britishness also want to absorb a million self-identifying Brits into their country. One or the other, surely?
