Good change! I use a heavily modified version of this template and this is one of the big changes I made for myself.
I couldn't tell how you are doing your approach to this; I just route through a /{path} to /dist in prod and tanstack server in dev, but I didn't see evidence of that perusing the code for a couple min. you may be doing a less janky job than I am of this. 🤔
