Work on carriers and fighters for Battlefront Valkyrie continues to progress. We’ve got the carrier rules and stats locked in for the most part, and are getting close to the finish line on the fighter rules. Without giving too much away, fighters operate in 5-ship “swarms,” each represented by a single fighter model on a dial-base that tracks how many fighters remain in the swarm. Swarms must be launched from a carrier and have limited endurance (both fuel and weapons) before they must return to refuel and rearm. Any fighters that cannot return to a carrier by the end of their endurance limit are lost. Damaged swarms can land on a carrier and be recombined into a full-strength swarm (e.g., a swarm reduced to two fighters can combine with a swarm of three and relaunch as a single full-strength swarm). We anticipate releasing carriers and fighters in the fourth quarter of this year (don’t worry Valkyrie fans, Kurgun and Cygnian Battle Cruisers are also coming between now and then).
