Yesterday I added “Shroom Space Out Man” (2019) by @davidhenrynobo1 to the collection. 🍄👽
And I absolutely love this one.
David has been pushing the boundaries between performance, sculpture, photography and identity since the early 1990s. In his Resemblagè works, his own body becomes the canvas — objects, food and cultural debris literally merging with the human figure.
Shroom Space Out Man, published on @SuperRare in early 2022, feels like a perfect example: psychedelic, grotesque, hilarious and strangely futuristic. A human being turned into an interface. Or maybe an alien created from the leftovers of consumer culture.
What makes David especially relevant to me is that he was exploring constructed identities, physical/digital masks and the transformation of the self for the internet long before NFTs entered the picture.
This is from 2019 — pre-NFT, but already deeply native to digital culture.
Weird as hell. Exactly my kind of art. ❤️🔥🍄

I’ve never been very good at being told what not to buy. 😏
So naturally, I just collected two 1/1s by @dontbuy_ on @SuperRare : “Painter” & “Press F1” 😁
I’ve been increasingly fascinated by his strange universe somewhere between painting, early computing, glitches, AI and our relationship with machines.
And there’s a nice circle closing here: we’re currently showing another work by don’t buy in our exhibition at @fundacion_paiz in Guatemala.
Full credit to @BnoiitC , who was the one who brought don’t buy into our curatorial conversation for Guatemala in the first place. 🙏

I started minting crypto art in late 2018 as ERC20 tokens and NFTs in early 2019 on SuperRare, then KO, MP, FND, HEN, Objkt, etc. It changed my life and gave me a total artistic freedom, I've been dreaming about for years.

Just added “Lady with Pomeranian" from 2022 by @pascalboyart to my collection. 😎
I discovered the Lady through @BnoiitC while working on our exhibition in Guatemala at @fundacion_paiz , where this work will also be shown.
Pascal is one of the early pioneers of crypto art: coming from painting and street art, he started integrating Bitcoin into his murals as early as 2017 and began tokenizing his street works as NFTs in 2019.
Lady with Pomeranian continues that bridge between physical and digital art: an oil painting accompanied by 7 different digital series of 7 NFTs each — 49 editions in total — plus a unique 1/1.
Mine is from the TV Screen Edition.
Really happy to finally add a PBOY to the collection. 🖤

Hi @lphaCentauriKid & @yungwknd— any update on the delegation solution @MuseFacktory announced for Argonaut claims? Do I need to worry about my claim eligibility expiring in the meantime? The works that make me eligible are held in my vault wallet, and right now the site only seems to let me claim by connecting/signing with that vault wallet, which I’d really prefer to avoid 🙏nitter.net/MuseFacktory/status/20…

Couldn’t resist another Atlas by @justinaversano . Namibia. 🇳🇦 Other works from the collection are currently on display at @fundacion_paiz in Guatemala City.
This one feels especially personal to me. I travelled through Namibia many years ago, and the country has stayed close to us ever since. I simply find the image incredibly beautiful — the quietness, the gaze, and especially the colors. The pale sky, the warm sand tones, the emptiness in the background instantly reminded me of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei — that almost surreal Namibian landscape of orange dunes, white clay and those solitary dead trees.
And that brings me back to what fascinates me so much about Justin Aversano´s Atlas: How much of what we think a country “looks like” comes from reality — and how much from memory, projection and cultural imagery? The AI creates its own idea of Namibia from the visual world we have collectively produced. And while looking at it, I realize that I’m doing exactly the same thing through my own memories of the country. Maybe that’s why this one felt so immediate to me.
I’m even thinking of having it printed on aluminium and giving it to my wife. ❤️🇳🇦 Some digital works simply deserve to become physical. ;-)

Now that Death & Taxes (first phase) has come to an end, this exhibition feels like the beginning of the next adventure. Let’s see where it takes us. ❤️
Can’t wait to finally go to Guatemala in two months together with OG @unityofmulti — and then head straight to @ArtBasel Miami afterwards.

Let me share some updates.
I was heartbroken that after spending an insane amount of ETH playing @dept_of_death with 8 citizens I ran out of dry powder and could not finish to be 1/69. I played with my heart and soul and was crushed that I could not get an animated 1/69 citizen by @m0dest___
I lamented and poured my grief amongst the ones I love like brothers.
Guess what !! @Punk8868 generously wrapped me up and simply gifted me a citizen. Just like that !! Magnanimity and heart all rolled into one.
I am speechless. It’s a bureaucrat and anonymous. Now to finally wait anxiously as to what magic M0dest does to animate this.

201 days. Death & Taxes is over.
I just claimed my share of the pot. Enough to buy myself a decent mid-size car. Maybe a new Toyota Camry in champagne. 😉
What a fucking ride.
I struggled through 201 days, cursed the game and @m0dest___ more than once, lost sleep and sometimes seriously wondered whether I had the balls to see this through.
I’m not a billionaire who could be certain money would never force me out. Very few of us had that luxury. You needed iron balls to survive this game.
And yes, at times it felt deeply unfair. Players found advantages Modest never intended, others followed, I didn’t — and I paid the price for it.
But that makes the ending even more beautiful.
When it really mattered, we chose cooperation.
In an incredible final effort, people who had competed for months contributed ETH, sacrificed Citizens and brought this thing home together. Huge thanks to everyone who made that happen — and to Modest for ultimately helping us get there.
D&T gave me much more than ETH. I learned about greed, fear, trust, fairness, endurance — and myself. I found real friendship among people I had never met.
And strangely, it even gave me hope for our increasingly divided society.
Maybe that’s why this ending feels so metamodern: we saw the selfishness, understood the incentives and experienced the unfairness — and still chose to believe in cooperation.
I became part of a social sculpture Joseph Beuys would have fucking loved. And one that could only have happened in Web3.

Now let’s take that spirit into the real world.

tonight, death and taxes ends.
a group of citizens organized. a large holder agreed to sacrifice four of their own citizens, 17 eth each. the group pooled the funds and bought the final four deaths. i didn't end the game. the citizens did. i can't imagine a better ending than that.
tonight the four are killed, the population reaches 69, and this phase of the game officially concludes.
now the important part, survivors:
your share of the treasury does not move on its own. claiming is a pull function. it does not happen automatically. you go to the site and you claim it yourself. there is exactly one place to do this: deptofdeath.xyz/irs. anyone who sends you anywhere else is trying to steal your hard earned eth.
the 69 will be paid exactly as written. that sentence has been on every surface of this project since the beginning. tonight it comes true.
i'm proud of what i built. the art, the strategy, the mechanics, the puzzles, the story. but, it also cost far more than i expected. it broke me emotionally. damaged relationships with people i genuinely care about. i said from the start that the tension and the discourse was part of the art. some days that was hard to believe.
thank you to everyone who played, watched, doubted, screamed, accused, and stayed. all of it was participation. all of it is in the work.
to the 69: you outlived a world. survived 201 grueling days. you will soon collect what the world owes you.
i'll have more to share later. still trying to process all of this. the subnet is coming. but for now i need a vacation.
