Yesterday was the beatification of Blessed Fulton J. Sheen. I thought I’d share with you some of the magnificent quotes he used! Here’s one I love: “To be a sinner is our greatest curse, to admit it is our greatest blessing.” How right he was! @thegnewsroom

I’m actually in St. Louis today. I think you know the good news: September 24 is the beatification of Fulton John Sheen! He was probably the greatest evangelist the Catholic Church in the United States has ever known. Eloquent, witty, passionately in love with Jesus and His Church, a great priest – Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, may we continue to learn from your example! @thegnewsroom

Today is the feast of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, also known as Padre Pio, one of the most popular Catholic saints these days. One of his sayings that I love is, “pray, hope, and do not despair!” Great lesson. @thegnewsroom

A Secret Service agent who protected Trump recently said something that SHOCKED everyone: “Trump has RUINED me — I could never protect another President the same way again.” And before you assume he meant that as criticism, WAIT until you understand what he really meant by “ruined,” because his explanation of Trump has left people across the Secret Service deeply emotional. Here’s what the agent meant by “Trump ruined me”: This Secret Service agent had protected several Presidents before Trump. He was professionally trained, followed every rule, and performed his duty with discipline, distance, and dedication. He protected each President the same way — until he was assigned to Trump. That’s when EVERYTHING changed. The agent explained: “Trump RUINED me for this job. Not because he’s difficult — but because he’s completely different. Trump knows my NAME. Other Presidents called me ‘agent.’ Trump calls me by my actual name. He knows my WIFE’S name. He knows my CHILDREN’S names. He asks about my son’s baseball games. Trump notices when I’ve been standing for 8 hours and tells me, ‘Sit down, you need to rest.’ During long days, Trump makes sure EXTRA food is available: ‘Make sure my guys eat first.’ When my FATHER passed away, Trump came to his funeral. No cameras. No reporters. No publicity. He simply came to honor the man who raised the person protecting him. After being treated like THIS — how could I ever return to being just ‘agent’ to another President? After Trump remembered my CHILDREN’S names, how could I protect someone who wouldn’t even bother learning mine? After Trump treated me like FAMILY, how could I go back to feeling like FURNITURE? Trump RUINED me. He raised the standard so HIGH for how a President can treat the people protecting him that I could never accept the old standard again. That’s what I mean when I say he ‘ruined’ me.” Here’s what this confession supposedly shows: Trump didn’t simply have Secret Service agents protecting him — he made them feel VALUED, RESPECTED, and treated like FAMILY. Once someone experiences that kind of personal respect, it becomes impossible to accept being treated like nothing more than equipment.

We started fall yesterday – things are changing. To live is to change. You know who said that beautifully? St. John Henry Neumann! The only time there won’t be any change is when we’re with Our Lord in Heaven. Through all the changes, Jesus is with us, because He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. @thegnewsroom

The iPhone 18 Pro Max went on sale 3 days ago. $1,199. Millions of people bought it this weekend. Most of them upgraded from an iPhone 15 or 16. Some upgraded from last year's 17 Pro Max. A tech reviewer who's tested every iPhone since the original spent 72 hours with the 18 Pro Max. He told me something Apple would never say at a keynote: "This is the most impressive iPhone ever built — and most people who bought it this weekend didn't need to." "The variable aperture camera is genuinely revolutionary. The battery life is absurd. The A20 Pro chip is a monster. But Apple spent 90 minutes on stage telling you what's new — and 0 minutes telling you what actually matters to the person holding it." "They didn't tell you the 3 situations where this phone is a life-changing upgrade. They didn't tell you the 4 situations where your iPhone 16 does the same job. They didn't tell you the one spec they buried that changes how long this phone lasts. And they definitely didn't tell you the 10 features already on this phone that you'll never open — because they'd rather sell you the iPhone 19 next year than teach you the 18 you just bought." Here are 10 things about the iPhone 18 Pro Max that Apple didn't say on stage — the honest truth about who should buy it, who shouldn't, and how to actually use the phone you just paid $1,199 for:🧵

I’m on a roll about penance! I spoke about the Ember Days, I spoke about Friday -- but we’re also in solidarity with our Jewish friends and neighbors, as this weekend they enter the solemn holy day of Yom Kippur. Our Jewish neighbors are a great example for us as we wish them the fullness of blessings! @thegnewsroom

In the wisdom of the Church, every Friday is an invitation to self-sacrifice because Friday is the day Our Savior died for us on the Cross. Jesus invites us to take up our cross and follow Him! Whatever you do, Fridays are a good day for some penance. @thegnewsroom

In the old days, we would observe the “Ember Days,” days of penance in the fall and spring. It was a great call to repentance, to turn to Jesus on the Cross, who died for our sins as Our Savior, and avail ourselves of that mercy through our own acts of sacrifice, prayer, and penance. It’s a great idea, isn’t it? We shouldn’t forget it! @thegnewsroom

The other day we had the feast of a great saint, St. John Chrysostom. I’m thinking about our St. John Chrysostom here in the Bronx! It’s one of the first Catholic schools I visited when I got here 17 years ago. There was this wonderful religious sister who was the principal: Sister Mary Elizabeth Mooney, OP. That school prospered because of her! Thank God for our religious sisters, who have been so devoted to our schools. @thegnewsroom

September 15 was the feast of Our Sorrowful Mother. Not long ago, I visited a wonderful young man in the hospital, who has been suffering immensely. I’ve never been at his bedside without seeing his mother there. That’s Our Sorrowful Mother at the foot of the Cross. Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us. @thegnewsroom
