We say goodbye to another legend today 😔
For nearly two decades, generations heard Tony Canal every time Winnie the Pooh spoke. Now, that familiar voice has gone silent.
Veteran actor and Castilian Spanish voice performer Tony Canal has passed away at 90, after a remarkable career spanning more than 60 years across television, film, theater and dubbing.
Canal became the Castilian Spanish voice of Winnie the Pooh for around 20 years, carrying the character through numerous films, series and even video games.
He returned as Pooh for Disney’s Christopher Robin in 2018.
But there was much more behind that gentle voice:
- Winnie the Pooh – Winnie the Pooh
- Christopher Robin – Winnie the Pooh
- The Jungle Book 2 – Kaa
- Family Guy – Mayor Adam West
- Kingdom Hearts II – Winnie the Pooh
- Kinect: Disneyland Adventures – Winnie the Pooh
- House of Mouse – Goat Man / Hombre Cabra
- Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure — Scratchy
- South Park — Randy Marsh
- Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers — Chief of the Tail Clan
and many more!
Some performers are remembered by their faces. Tony Canal will also be remembered by a voice that made the Hundred Acre Wood feel like home.
Rest in paradise, Tony Canal 🕊️
