A junior sysadmin, let's call him Jake, was pulling a late-night shift when he got an urgent call from the CEO—his laptop had frozen right before a massive investor presentation. Panicked, Jake remoted in, only to find something truly bizarre: the CEO’s desktop was flooded with thousands of cat pictures. Like, wall-to-wall felines. Confused, Jake checked the system logs—turns out, the CEO had accidentally downloaded a script that recursively saved every cat meme from an old Reddit thread. It had been running for months in the background, quietly filling up the hard drive. With mere minutes to spare, Jake frantically deleted gigs of cat photos, cleared the temp files, and rebooted the machine. The CEO made it into the presentation just in time, only to open PowerPoint and find—yep—every single slide background was now a different cat. The investors? Huge cat lovers. Best pitch of the year. The company got funding. Jake got a raise. The IT team never stopped roasting him. Moral of the story: Always check what you download… or embrace the cat chaos. PS - this story may have been made up, but it also may have happened 🤷
