Then I remembered something: this is a government that, in my view, has failed so badly in the areas that matter to ordinary Nigerians that campaigning for another term in the same economic climate will be a completely different challenge.
Yes, Nigerians have historically been vulnerable to vote-buying, where ₦5,000 or other incentives can influence some voters.
But even with that, there is still one difficult question to overcome:
How do you convince people that the hardship they experienced during Tinubu’s first four years is something they should vote for again?
