Team Mofor has canvassed every day this week! We have been talking to people throughout the community. Some are shocked to find out Mississippi is outperforming Maryland schools. Many were disappointed about the plan to impose a sales tax increase next year. House Speaker Joselyn Peña Melnyk, in tandem with my opponents, will not stop Senate leadership from closing the $3.1 billion deficit on the backs of working-class families. I talked to voters about how we’re not getting a strong return for our constant tax and fee increases. Our infrastructure is crumbling, and our educational test scores are stagnant at best. When elected, I will continue to show up in the community and look voters in the eyes and talk to them about their concerns. Just had a fantastic canvassing session in River Hill. Our conversations today were focused around eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) in government! After finishing my master’s in law at WashU, I was shocked by the (FWA) in government when I came back home to Maryland. It’s why I joined the Montgomery County Taxpayers League (MCTL) to work as a taxpayer protection advocate. Now I still have plenty of work to do, and it’s why I am supporting Deb Jung’s legislation to make the OIG in Howard County a co-custodian to get access to government records to eliminate FWA. Delegates Ziegler and Wu voted for HB 488 and HB 2100, which brought the Question 3 amendment that would take compactness rules off congressional maps. Maryland needs 9A delegates focused on costs, schools, safe streets, and infrastructure. Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Rural Maryland Council’s Fall Executive Board meeting. I was so blessed to listen to farmland policy experts and advocates. They discussed the need for stronger funding for agriculture, broadband connectivity, and fiber optics in rural communities. It was also a privilege to speak with attendees about my promise to protect farmland and be a staunch advocate for agriculture as a state delegate for rural 9A.
