What Went Wrong, and Incoming 24HR Auction Extension (Exact Time TBA):
Issues:
1. UI not reflecting the Fighter/Noobie split and Minimum Fighter Bid in real time:
Some users saw on the website that they’d be getting Fighters until the end point of the auction, but after final measurements they were dropped to Noobies.
While we had explicitly communicated “the top 50% of bidders getting Fighters / Bottom 50% getting Noobies” in published docs, that did not reflect on the website correctly and in real-time after the halfway point of the bids were reached, which also led to the website reflecting the wrong Minimum Bid for Fighters.
2. Website Infinite Loading/Cache Issue:
Some users experienced an issue with the website not loading, affecting their ability to adjust their bids on time to be in their desired part of the split.
This was due to users' browsers caching the first version of the website that they loaded. Considering the auction data was updating continuously and a new version of the website was pushed after the supply cut, the cached version of the site became invalid and failed to load, leading to the loading issues.
3. Lack of understanding about the Character States:
The top 50% of the bidders will receive Fighter NFTs, the bottom 50% will receive Noobie NFTs.
This sets the foundation for our core game loop, hence why the easy solution of “just distribute more fighters” is not an option, as it seriously hurts the core mechanics & the collection’s secondary performance in result.
Many of the Noobie bidders were not familiar with the mechanics behind the Noobies before the auction concluded, so we do hope that with the latest wave of increased visibility, everyone has understood the docs more in depth and knows exactly what they’ll be getting.
The Next Step is clear:
We’ve gathered feedback from the community, founders, advisors, and many opinion leaders. All of whom addressed the same issue: users’ inability to bid for the desired tokens due to the mentioned issues. We hear you.
The Bulls auction will reopen with a 24-hour extension to allow everyone a fair chance at bidding for their desired token state, unlike before. That time frame is set to ensure no time zone is left out. The exact reopening time will be announced soon.
The new system UI will also be dynamic, so it will reflect the 50/50 split in real time based on how much of the 2,000 supply is bid for.
The bid update UI will also be clearer for users making changes to their bids.
Onwards.
