At the time of President Xi’s arrival to the White House (around 10am) , CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO still hadn’t been readmitted to the White House grounds (around 12pm) and therefore weren’t eligible to attend the arrival ceremony

BREAKING: CNN has been allowed back inside the White House grounds. A judge gave the WH until 12.30pm to allow them back in; and they ultimately relented around noon.

NEW: Federal judge orders the White House to reinstate CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO's access; saying the press badges were revoked without 'constitutionally adequate due process.'

For the first time in 64 years, a US President greets a foreign head of state at the airport ahead of a state visit to the White House. President Trump welcomes Chinese President Xi; whom just months ago sent his Vice President to greet President Trump at the airport when he landed in Beijing. The last US President to do this was President John F. Kennedy in 1062 when he greeted British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan at Joint Base Andrews.

The hearing is over and the judge says he’ll try to get a ruling ‘as soon as I can’. In 2018, the same judge took 2 days to rule on Jim Acosta’s access case with the White House.

The lawyer for CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO pushes back in his rebuttal, saying 'the first mention of national security in this case came from President Trump after we announced Monday morning we were going to be filing this lawsuit, and suddenly I guess the light bulb went off, and they all decided start talking about national security.'

After days of the President saying that he was banning the outlets because of their coverage of him, his legal team is arguing that he made the decision because he determined their reporting posed a national security risk: 'He's only applied the policies with respect to 3 organizations where he's made personally specific security determinations and identified in writing what those businesses are.'

The Trump administration's lawyer says CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO aren't being singled out by President Trump. He says 'the president criticizes many people, probably every news organization. [...] He's criticized other news organizations even more. I believe he constantly will talk about how, for example, ABC is the worst. The New York Times he's critical of...'

The Trump administration's lawyer is arguing that the fact there was around 15 hours between the President announcing the ban on CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO and their reporters not being able to access the building 'certainly clears the bar' as being a sufficient notice period for revoking their passes.

A lawyer for the Trump administration says 'the lawyer for CNN put forth an absurd interpretation of the First Amendment' as both sides put their cases to a judge regarding the White House ban on CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO.
