Since the 2020 election, Congress has passed no legislation reasonably described as pro-China. The clear bipartisan trend has been strategic competition and reducing US dependencies on China.
Major examples signed into law:
- Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (2021)
- CHIPS and Science Act (2022)
- TikTok divestiture requirements (2024)
- Annual NDAA provisions restricting Chinese tech, biotech, EVs, investments, and supporting Taiwan supply chains
Tariffs from the prior administration were largely maintained, with added export controls and entity list expansions. No new trade deals or measures favoring Chinese interests advanced to law.
