Really interesting Guardian long-read by Hettie O’Brien on ‘The people shaping Andy Burnham’s grand plans for Britain’ which says:
‘Civil servants responsible for local growth are being relocated into a new government department called the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, which will be led by Haigh. The idea for such a department originated in a paper produced by the Future Governance Forum, which argued for a new centre of executive power within No 10.'

A new FGF report has called for the government to use the #Budget to provide more support for female, disabled and ethnic minority entrepreneurs and founders without inherited wealth or established networks, to help deliver @andyburnham's ambition for 'good growth in every postcode'.
The report recommendations include calls for the government to:
* Provide more support for these ‘underinvested founders’, funded through the £400 million Investor Pathways Capital programme.
* Introduce a £50 million Youth Enterprise Scheme to help young people on Universal Credit to start their own businesses through financial subsidies.

Stay for rather helpful reading list on contemporary thinking on devo and public services from people in and adjacent to the Government.
'Rewiring the state' is now core business. No longer a technical fix or a nice to have, Burnham's commitment to move power away from Whitehall and Westminster is central to achieving his wider political ambitions.
These plans are laudable. But often the thinking around devolution simply assumes that our current data, digital systems and AI will exist and work.
In fact, to properly meet the needs of a devolved and democratic state, we must deliberately design these systems. Read @GavinFreeguard and @JeniT's excellent guest blog to find out how. 👏 👇
