“The momentum is real, but so are the challenges. Clearing gangs from an area is an important step, but it is not an end in itself. The lasting test is whether security gains can be consolidated and sustained,” said Jack Christofides, #GSF Special Representative, briefing the UN Security Council on 19 October 2026.

On Monday, 5 October, hundreds of #GSF soldiers deployed in Tabarre, supported by armored vehicles and helicopters. Operating largely on foot, troops extended the GSF’s presence into areas difficult to access by armored vehicles, including narrow passageways and abandoned buildings that could be used as hideouts by armed groups. Troops also removed numerous barricades. The operation in Tabarre is part of broader GSF patrols and interventions across several communes in the Ouest and Artibonite departments. The GSF remains committed to adapting its operations to evolving threats and available resources, with the objective of contributing to improved safety and security for affected communities. #HaitiSecure #Haiti
