⚡ Meet Sunnie, one of our Damage Assessment Coordinators.
When storms impact our system, damage assessment teams are among the first on the scene. Their job is to safely inspect affected areas, identify what caused the outage, and determine what equipment and resources crews need to begin repairs.
The information they collect helps us develop restoration plans and get the right crews to the right locations safely and as quickly as possible.

We're kicking off Workforce Development Month by featuring South Georgia Technical College's Electrical Lineworker Program. ⚡
Located in Americus, the 8-week accelerated program prepares students for careers as entry-level electrical lineworkers through hands-on training and industry-focused coursework. As one of nine Georgia technical colleges recognized through the Electrical Lineworker Apprentice Certification (ELAC) pathway, SGTC is helping build the next generation of energy professionals.
Georgia Power proudly supports this workforce pipeline by serving on the program's advisory committee, helping align curriculum with industry needs, and providing students the opportunity to shadow local crews during Observation Week. Many participants have gone on to join our team full-time, turning classroom learning into rewarding careers that help keep the lights on for our customers.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and last Saturday, we teamed up with @GeorgiaPower to celebrate the Impact of Positive Energy by honoring the Cure Childhood Cancer Club at UGA.
The CURE Childhood Cancer Club is an organization dedicated to supporting children and families as they heroically face a cancer diagnosis and treatment. From packing hospital activity bags, providing meals to families during treatment, and fundraising to increase research on specialized treatments such as precision medicine, CURE at UGA engages in a variety of activities to support those undergoing cancer treatment.

As Georgia’s LIHEAP cooling season comes to a close, we’re proud of the impact made through our Fulton County Cool Down Series. 💙
At our recent event at Gateway Capitol View Apartments, 80 households received critical energy bill assistance, while dozens more enrolled in programs designed to provide long-term savings and predictable energy costs. By connecting customers with energy assistance, affordability programs, and community resources, we’re helping build greater financial stability for the families we serve.
Thank you to all of the teams and partners who helped make this outreach effort a success.

We have a bright ☀️ milestone to share! Last week we received approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) for 1,137 MW of new solar power purchase agreements through the CARES program, marking the largest single solar procurement in our company's history.
“These new solar resources will deliver affordable and reliable energy at a fixed price for the benefit of all Georgia Power customers for years to come,” said Wilson Mallard, director of renewable development for Georgia Power. 🌱
The seven approved projects, located across communities including Appling, Decatur, Jefferson, Sumter, Warren, Emanuel, and Irwin counties, are expected to begin commercial operation as early as 2029.

More savings. Same commitment.
The Georgia PSC has approved Georgia Power's contract with OpenAI, part of a portfolio of large-load customers that is delivering approximately $180 per year in savings, or about $15 per month, for the typical residential customer beginning in 2029.
When the first signs of projected extraordinary growth appeared in the state, we began developing a framework with the Georgia PSC designed to turn that projected growth into lower costs and higher reliability for customers. This announcement follows the prior freeze on base rates approved by the Georgia PSC in July 2025, as well as the plan approved in May 2026 to lower overall rates.
"We know every dollar counts, and we know that in many parts of the country growth is pushing electric rates up. That is not happening in Georgia," said Kim Greene, chairman, president and CEO of Georgia Power. "In December, we committed to $102 a year in savings for the typical family beginning in 2029. Today, that number is expected to be $180. We appreciate the continued diligence of the Commission and its staff in helping us deliver these savings for customers, and ensuring the right protections are in place for the millions of Georgians we are privileged to serve."
