Some players want to be regarded as the best player in the world while contributing far less to their team’s biggest moments than Mbappé has.
And history has already shown that winning the Ballon d’Or without a major club trophy is possible: Stanley Matthews (1956), Denis Law (1964), Kevin Keegan (1978) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2013) all did it.
So the argument should never be reduced to “Where are the trophies?”
Individual impact, decisive performances, production and influence matter too.
Mbappé doesn’t need the same trophy cabinet as everyone else to have a legitimate individual case.
Him being the top scorer in the LA LIGA, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE & WORLD CUP is enough.

THE RISE
Before William Saliba became the calmest man in Arsenal’s back line, he was a forward, then a midfielder.
Then, eventually, the centre-back everyone wished they had discovered earlier.
He grew up in Bondy - the same Paris suburb that produced Kylian Mbappe - playing at AS Bondy before moving to Montfermeil.
At 17, he made his Ligue 1 debut for Saint-Etienne. Arsenal came calling in 2019, signing the teenager for around £27m.
But the Arsenal story didn't begin immediately. Saint-Etienne. Nice. Marseille, three loans.
At Marseille, everything finally clicked. Saliba stopped looking like a talented kid & started looking like a defender built for the highest level.
Then came 5 August 2022. Crystal Palace. His Arsenal debut.
That night, North London finally saw what had been hiding in France.

There was a football obsessive underneath it all. A defender studying the game before the world started studying him.
From Bondy, from Arsenal's academy dream, through three loans, through the waiting, through the doubts.
Now?
The boy who once wanted to be a striker is one of the defenders Arsenal built their future around.
He didn't choose the position, football chose it for him. 🇫🇷
