When it comes to bride price, the list of things to bring, and the overall requirements for marrying their daughters, they generally don’t make it unnecessarily overwhelming. And I think this is one reason you see many Yoruba men marry relatively early and build their homes from scratch, even when they don’t have everything figured out financially. Marriage shouldn’t be a competition to see who can spend the most money. Sometimes, making the process reasonable gives young people a better chance to actually start a family and grow together.
