Tic-tac-toe is live on Kaspa testnet: the first vprog, a verifiable program with real execution and real settlement, running since yesterday. Quiet but big: Kaspa's standards process just proved it works. 🏁 KCC-0 — the document that defines HOW Kaspa conventions get finalised — reached Final on Sept 21. The first KCC ever to cross the line. 📣 And now KCC-20, THE covenant token standard, has an open PR proposing Last Call — the final review stage before Final. Also in the pipeline: a wallet API standard (KCC-12), covenant metadata (KCC-23), and a brand-new domain — reputation, bonds and identity as covenants. No foundation decree. No backroom. Every stage change is a public pull request anyone can read. That's how you grow a standard.

While prototyping KCC-20 I got asked how should token symbols, descriptions, images, and other kind of metadata be defined. On EVM systems, there is a single SC which represents a token, and holds both its balance state and global state. On the UTXO model there is no global state, the token is split and held across holders, each one holds his specific token (UTXO/covenant). This means that adding state fields for metadata would duplicate them across each UTXO, which is wasteful. Things such as representation, name, symbol or image are also not part of the SC logic, and should not be part of it. A naive approach is to declare such metadata in the payload field of a tx, which is an "empty space" that can be used to write whatever information. The issue is that Kaspa is prunable. Eventually, the block containing this tx would no longer be available for verification, so at some point the data would need to be trusted by off chain entity. After drafting a few solutions, we came up with KCC-23, a convention for binding the metadata to the covenant ID itself. 🚨 Community Update Trading on ZealousSwap is now reopened on Igra L2. The Kasplex KRC 20 indexer has been paused and the KAT Bridge routes from KRC 20 L1 to Igra and Kasplex L2 are closed, preventing additional unbacked KRC 20 supply from entering Igra. We know ZEAL supply on the L2s was inflated as a result of the incident. While this issue did not originate from ZealousSwap, we are taking responsibility for dealing with its consequences as fairly as possible. All trades that happened during and after the incident remain valid. This includes users who bought ZEAL at heavily discounted prices. We will not invalidate legitimate trades or penalize anyone for trading the market that existed at the time. With the affected route now closed, we are comfortable reopening trading on Igra L2. Kasplex L2 trading will remain paused for now while we continue working on the recovery plan.
