New Census data shows our poverty rate is declining at three times the national rate. And when you account for programs that put money back in families’ pockets, New Mexico’s child poverty rate has fallen nearly in half — from 20.9% to 10.9%. This hopeful news reflects choices we’ve made together: making college more affordable, cutting taxes for working families, expanding food and housing assistance and investing directly in New Mexico’s kids. And these numbers don’t yet reflect universal no-cost child care, which just launched last November.

People say that Republicans and Democrats just can’t get along. Well, my friend Spencer Cox — the Republican Governor of Utah — and I get along great. We may not agree on a lot of public policy, but we have a good time together and we disagree respectfully. Governor Cox’s Disagree Better campaign is just what American needs right now, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

The State Emergency Operations Center is activated. National Guard swiftwater teams are in place near Ruidoso and Las Vegas, with regional teams on standby in Doña Ana, Santa Fe, Sandoval and Valencia counties. More than 5,000 sandbags are already out in communities, and we can send more wherever local leaders need them. Roswell welcomed the National Championship Air Races, a storied American aviation tradition bringing new energy, visitors and an estimated $100 million economic impact to southeastern New Mexico.

New Mexicans — and the international aviation community — turned out in Roswell this weekend for the National Championship Air Races, and we had a blast! During the event, I announced $3 million in state funding to upgrade the Air Center, repave roads and improve drainage so this championship event can grow here for years to come. In just over a year, this community built five racecourses from scratch, poured new grandstands, and opened its doors to visitors from across the country and the world, with Artesia, Carlsbad, and Ruidoso pitching in when Roswell's hotels sold out. At a moment when fewer visitors from abroad are choosing America, more are choosing New Mexico. While international travel to the U.S. dropped 5.5% in 2025, New Mexico moved in the opposite direction — welcoming roughly 10,000 more international visitors than the year before, bringing our total to an estimated 760,000 international travelers.

Eric Witt ––  the architect of New Mexico’s film industry –– believed that attracting film and television productions was an investment in New Mexicans that would create opportunities for generations to come. The Eric Witt Studio at the Albuquerque Rail Yards carries his vision forward by honoring our history while preparing New Mexicans to lead the next generation of film, media arts and entertainment. Today I met with the U.S. Commission on Quantum Primacy to show them why New Mexico is quantum-leaping to the fore of quantum computing research. We've committed $450 million in state investments and built a rapidly scaling quantum startup ecosystem, anchored by Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs, Roadrunner Venture Studios, and the only entanglement-based quantum network in the U.S. The future of quantum tech is being built right here in our backyard, and we could not be more excited! ⚛️

Today’s Supreme Court decision affirms a fundamental principle of a functioning democracy: voting shouldn't be harder for some Americans than for others. This ruling means that voters of every ability, means, and zip code still get to have their say at the ballot box. It means that no decision about the lives of everyday New Mexicans — or Americans — gets made without them. Here in New Mexico, we’ll keep leading the nation with safe, secure, accessible elections.

We love New Mexico. Not New America

Some things about New Mexico simply aren’t up for debate. Our beauty is unmatched. Our cultures and traditions are one of a kind. And in 2025, our state saw $2.3 billion in visitor spending. New Mexico is our name, our history and our home.

Twenty-five years after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, we still mourn the loss of 2,977 Americans and solemnly remember the courage and sacrifice of countless first responders who answered the call to help — some paying the ultimate price. In the aftermath of these horrific attacks, Americans across our great nation united in solidarity as many gave blood, donated food and money or even traveled to New York and Washington to volunteer in the recovery efforts. As we mark a quarter century since one of the darkest days in our history, let’s take a moment to reflect on what it means to be an American and vow to connect with our neighbors and communities in a spirit of love and unity once again.
