It is with incredible sadness today that we are mourning the loss of @CTDOTOfficial employee Elvin Hernandez, who was struck and killed while working on the job on I-95 in Fairfield this morning in a heartbreaking tragedy that never should have happened.
CTDOT workers face dangerous situations while performing their jobs because of drivers who aren't paying attention to road conditions and speeding through work zones. I am imploring every single driver to show CTDOT and all other road maintenance workers and first responders respect and slow down whenever you see them working on our roads.
My prayers are with Elvin's family, friends, and CTDOT colleagues. Connecticut state government is grieving one of our employees who dedicated themselves to serving the public.

Folks in Connecticut, especially along the coast, should prepare for a significant amount of rain and strong winds throughout the entire weekend.
The intensity depends on the track of the storm, and as the forecast develops I am encouraging everyone to stay alert for continued updates throughout this weekend.
Remember, if you approach a flooded road never attempt to drive through it because even just a few inches of water can stall and carry vehicles away.

Today I stand with Senator Blumenthal in calling for the restoration of nearly $53 million in clean energy grants for Connecticut. We need to keep these grants to increase production, lower costs, and make our grid more reliable.
