These are the recordings of a family finding out about the murder of their grandmother, Bracha Levinson z"l, on the morning of October 7th. They were in their safe rooms at Kibbutz Nir Oz. Bracha sent them a good morning message every day at 7:00 AM, and that day it never came. When they went on social media to look for her, they found that the terrorists who murdered her had livestreamed it on her own Facebook page. In this audio, you can hear the moment they understood what they were looking at. You don't need to understand the words they are saying to hear the horror in their screams. Her house is now burnt out and covered in ash. I am sharing these recordings because the world should hear what that day did to the families who survived it. May her memory be a blessing. 🕯️

On October 7, 2023, Yael Idan witnessed Hamas terrorists murder her sister Maayan. Her father, Tzachi, was taken hostage into Gaza and was later returned to Israel after being murdered in captivity. Their story must never be forgotten. Keep telling it. Keep remembering them. 💔🇮🇱 May Tzachi’s memory forever be a blessing. 🕊️

THREE YEARS. Three years since the moment my life changed forever. Even now, it feels so unreal that sometimes I still can’t fully comprehend that I was kidnapped and taken to Gaza. Sometimes it feels like it was all just a nightmare I somehow woke up from. But at the same time, the pain is always here. It never really leaves, and sometimes, it only gets stronger. This year, when I went to visit the graves of my friends, I felt like it had somehow become even harder. Maybe because the hostages are finally home. Maybe because I’m no longer part of that fight. Or maybe because everyone else has already graduated, moved to Tel Aviv, and started their careers. And you remain there, like a memory from another life. A life that was innocent, young, and happy. A group of friends simply enjoying life, dreaming big, with no idea how quickly everything could change. I miss you every single day. With every step I take, on every path I choose, I find myself wondering what it would be like if you were still here beside me. As more time passes, I realize that soon, more time will have passed since we lost you than the amount of time I actually had the chance to know you. And that is something I still can’t accept. To me, you are always with me. And for those of us who have lost someone we love, it isn’t easy to watch the world keep moving when some people’s lives simply stopped. It isn’t easy to live with the guilt of being the ones who are still here. But we have to keep going, because that is what they would have wanted for us. We have to learn to live alongside the pain. Embrace it. Forgive it. Understand it. But at the same time, keep looking forward. Give yourself permission to LIVE.

Breaking: "As retired senior military leaders and legal experts, on this, the third anniversary of Hamas's October 7, 2023 brutal attack on Israel, we reject claims that Israel committed genocide in Gaza." @jinsadc I am honored to be a part of 76 retired U.S. officers (including 13 Generals, 27 Lieutenant Generals, 19 Major Generals, 5 Brigadier Generals) Refuting the Genocide Allegation Against Israel. jinsa.org/wp-content/uploads… "The precedent established today regarding Israel will shape the conditions under which American forces fight tomorrow. Protecting civilians and preserving the ability of our nation to defend itself requires us to defend the truth when the laws of war are being distorted to make false charges of genocide."

October 7 is a date etched into the memory of Jews around the world. Three years later, we remember every life brutally taken, every hostage who never returned home, every survivor who continues to carry the scars of that day, and every family and community forever changed by its horrors. The pain of that day has not disappeared with time. Neither has the love for all those we lost. May their memories be a blessing. Three years ago, Hamas terrorists carried out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. More than 1,000 people were murdered. Children, parents and grandparents were dragged into Gaza as hostages. Families were torn apart in a single morning. Today I stand with Toronto's Jewish community in remembering every life lost, and the hostages and families whose suffering did not end that day. That hatred did not stay thousands of kilometres away. Here in Toronto, schools have been shot at, synagogues and Jewish businesses vandalized, families harassed in their own neighbourhoods. Too many Jewish residents have told me they no longer feel safe being visibly Jewish in the city they call home. Antisemitism is not the Jewish community's problem to confront alone. It demands leadership. There can be no excuses for celebrating terrorism on our streets, and no looking the other way when Jewish Torontonians are threatened. As mayor, hate will be met with consequences, not excuses. I have stood with this community at vigils and in synagogues. I have sat with families who buried their children and with families fighting to bring their loved ones home. They asked only that the world not forget. Remembering October 7 is about the kind of city we choose to be. I choose a Toronto where Jewish residents can live openly and proudly. A Toronto everyone can be safe in. May the memories of those murdered be a blessing, and may we build a Toronto where antisemitism has no home.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists launched a brutal, sinister attack on Israel and the Jewish people. I have stood on the ground where those attacks happened, breathed the air in the burned out homes. I will not forget and I stand with those attacked, not the attackers.

Holocaust denial still exists today. Now we are seeing October 7 denial. As the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, I’m disgusted by the vile antisemitism we’ve witnessed across Canada and around the world. Call it out and confront it. Remember the victims of 10/7.

I spent time today with Gail Asper at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the museum her father, Israel Asper, dreamed up and her family helped build. We walked through the Nakba exhibit and talked about what it's missing. I don't think anyone wants Palestinian stories kept out of a human rights museum. What we want is for the history to be told accurately and in full, and that includes the 850,000 Jews who were forced out of Arab countries, including my grandmother Hela from Iraq and Kamisa from North Africa. You cannot speak about history as if it only began in 1948 and say that only one group of refugees suffered from the Arab armies' invasion into Israel. A museum built on the idea of human rights for everyone should be able to hold both of those stories. Thank you, Gail, for the conversation and for everything your family has given this city.

Yesterday we took our push for armed security at vulnerable Jewish institutions directly to Queen’s Park. B’nai Brith Canada’s Sydney Waxman, Government and Stakeholder Relations Specialist, and Richard Robertson, Director of Research and Advocacy, appeared before the Standing Committee on Justice Policy regarding Bill 119, the Protecting Ontario’s Streets and Communities Act. Our recent polling found that 88.7% of respondents support allowing appropriately trained and qualified armed private security to protect Jewish institutions. The recent attack in Belleville showed why this matters. When a gunman opened fire outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue, an armed police officer intervened, preventing what could have become a mass-casualty attack against Jews gathered inside. Most Jewish institutions cannot have police stationed outside their doors at all times. Through Bill 119, we are urging Ontario to establish the framework needed to qualify, train, administer, and deploy a specialized cohort of armed private security professionals. We are also urging the province to ensure that confronting antisemitism, hate-motivated crime, and threats against Jewish institutions are consistently reflected in policing priorities across Ontario. Alongside these provincial changes, we are urging the Federal Government to amend the Firearms Act regulations to enable those principally engaged in protecting vulnerable infrastructure to be armed. Our community has made its position clear. Yesterday, on its behalf, we brought that message directly to Queen’s Park.

Congratulations to @PaulPlamondon on leading the @partiquebecois to a minority victory.    We urge you and your new government to address the alarming increase in antisemitic incidents in Quebec.    @bnaibrithcanada documented 6,800 incidents targeting Jews in its Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents in Canada for the year 2025. 573 of those incidents were recorded in Quebec. The impact of rising antisemitism on Jewish institutions and Jewish-owned businesses in Quebec continues to create increasing security, financial, and operational challenges.   Ensuring the well-being of all Quebecers MUST be a component of your new government’s mandate.   We would also like to congratulate @CharlesMilliard, Leader of @LiberalQuebec for forming the Official Opposition, and to @E_Duhaime and the @PconservateurQc for its breakthrough in the election.   We look forward to working with government and opposition parties to combat rising hatred and extremism across the province in the 44th National Assembly of Quebec!
