A #NationalComingOutDay thread! When I was 13, I began collecting pictures of hot men that I found on AOL. I kept them on my family's computer, in a file called "downloads" I thought no one looked at, and I labeled them with the one word I knew to describe hot men: beefcake.
this is an important part of my process (having an idea after two glasses of wine, spending a year writing it, then realizing the idea I had after two glasses of wine was in fact very bad )!
.@GrantGinder has maybe done the best @nytimesbooks "By the Book" interview I've ever read.
Sampling: "For me, 85 percent of being a writer is learning the hard way that the great idea I had after two glasses of wine is not, in fact, a great idea."

New York is AMAZING because sometimes it takes you one train ride to get home and sometimes it takes you four train rides, one bus ride, and a 25 minute walk in sub-freezing temperatures to get home.
you guys excellent news: in addition to providing me with last night's recipe for a zippy, zesty chicken ramen the NYT also thinks that SO OLD, SO YOUNG is a book you should read in February! nytimes.com/2026/01/29/books…

Atonement (2007) has one of the bleakest endings of its era. Wright lets you believe in the happy version just long enough before pulling the floor out, and that final reveal lands like a quiet heartbreak you can’t shake.
the thing i love most about the gay hockey show is its elegant and surprising structure, which is: gay sex, time jump, gay sex, time jump, quick talk with an overbearing mother, gay sex, time jump.
a very minor thanksgiving miracle! The lovely folks @goodreads are running another giveaway for galleys of my new novel SO OLD, SO YOUNG. Enter here: goodreads.com/giveaway/show/…
How's this for hell: I'm currently on a plane from JFK to Seattle. The man behind me has been eating Doritos very loudly since we took off from what seems be a magical, bottomless bag. Meanwhile, my left AirPod, for reasons inexplicable, did not charge, leaving me defenseless.
But wait, there's more: There is a woman sitting next to me in the middle seat who is sleeping and snoring. The window seat is vacant, but she has—also for reasons inexplicable—elected to sit directly next to me instead of leaving a free seat between us.
