NCEP CFS set a new all-time high for Earth's average temperature for the third time in four days.
Such records are the predictable consequence of a short-term El Niño temperature boost coming on top of the long-term global warming trend due to mankind's greenhouse gas emissions.

Many argue that delay or slower emission reductions would be less disruptive to society.
They don't understand a cumulative problem. Even delay (left) or just going to <2°C (right) leads to similar reductions in oil as in a 1.5°C scenario (green, IEA).

Today's sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines resulted in a substantial release of methane to the atmosphere. Initial estimates suggest ~115,000 tons CH4 from Nord Stream 2, amounting to ~3.2 million tons CO2-eq (GWP100). Possibly double this when accounting for NS1.
