100% with you on "keep the asset protected, export the utility." The asset shouldn't have to move. The catch: a proof of ownership only means something if you can produce it. If the collectible sits in a custodial account, the "proof" is really the platform vouching for you. That makes the platform a gatekeeper for every single game integration. So the answer is self-custody, made easy: 🔑 A Collect wallet with no seed-phrase gymnastics 📱 In the game, scan a QR code and your wallet signs a proof that you own the collectible ✅ The game checks it in. Nothing is transferred and nothing is approved for spending One honest caveat: the tech can make check-in instant, but the licensor still decides which games and which utility their IP gets. The rails come first, then the approvals.

I've seen some discussions about VeVe's drop sizes being too large, and I'm confident VeVe is well aware of these concerns. They consistently keep a close pulse on the VeVe community, so I don't think these issues are going unnoticed. How do I know? Look at some of the mechanics VeVe has introduced and continues to use fairly often: Special Editions — Help drive VeVe's retail sales by introducing chasers and adding excitement to larger drops. Burn Mechanics — Help offset larger initial mint sizes by permanently removing collectibles from the available supply. To me, these aren't random mechanics. They're tools VeVe can use to balance larger drops while still maintaining scarcity and giving collectors incentives to participate. In my opinion, the real concern isn’t edition sizes—it’s drop frequency. Having access to so many major IPs can be a double-edged sword. Most companies would love to have the incredible roster of IPs that VeVe has, so it’s certainly a great problem to have. But on the flip side, maintaining healthy liquidity within a closed ecosystem can be challenging when drops happen too frequently. So, the question becomes: Why does VeVe have so many frequent drops? At the end of the day, VeVe is a business, and it has obligations to its licensors. Those licensing agreements come with commitments, and VeVe likely has a fairly tight release schedule that it needs to maintain. So, what can VeVe do to offset the challenges that come with frequent drops? Marketing, of course. Continue building partnerships with established content creators and influential community members. Expand cross-marketing opportunities with major brands like Roblox and Ubisoft. Keep showing up at events like Comic-Con and DesignerCon. The more frequently people encounter the VeVe brand, the more likely they are to become curious, download the app, and eventually become collectors. And last but certainly not least, continue working with Collect Chain to build an amazing, user-friendly Web3 digital collectibles experience that makes it easier for collectors to participate both inside and outside the VeVe ecosystem. 💙

In case you missed it: StackR was built as an "in between solution" when VeVe assets were still on the Immutable L2 blockchain solution. It has been communicated a long time ago that StackR would not be further developed - just maintained. Here’s what you can expect from the soon to be launched Collect Marketplace: - it’ll be THE 3rd party marketplace to go to - if you want to sell your VeVe DiCo for real world value. Gems payout is NOT coming back. StackR will be retired - unified login (you log in with your VeVe credentials) - the marketplace will have listings from other platforms/IPs besides VeVe - natively built on CollectChain, ultra fast - apparently no beta, immediately to public - a very pleasing way to navigate, especially for non-crypto natives - with everything you love from StackR (OMI burns!) and much, much more. Oh, let’s not forget self-custody. One might say you’re not bullish enough 😉
⭕️StackR keeps proving $OMI has real utility 🔥 Stack licensed VeVe grails, convert OMI → Gems, fuel token burns as you go💎✨ That collector loop is key and is about to accelerate dramatically 👀🚀 @ecomi_ @veve_official Who’s buying on @StackRworld with $OMI this week?? 👀

The entire digital collectibles space needs more awareness and exposure. Simply being on Solana, by itself, is not enough. While being able to buy and sell on OpenSea is certainly a step forward for Candy Digital, it still largely caters to people who are already familiar with crypto. VeVe, on the other hand, is positioning itself with mass adoption in mind. One of the things VeVe has learned is that it doesn’t want to be dependent on other blockchains. The “latest and greatest” blockchain will continue to rotate in and out of popularity. VeVe is positioning itself around something it can have much more control over for the long term. Imagine having to explain to hundreds of licensors why VeVe needs to migrate to another blockchain yet again because the current one is no longer the best option. That simply isn’t an efficient long-term strategy. What works for one company isn’t necessarily the best solution for another. Candy Digital has seven brands, while VeVe has hundreds of brands and licensors to consider. The scale and complexity are very different. VeVe is trying to find the solution that makes the most sense for its ecosystem over the long term—not simply chase whichever blockchain happens to be the hottest at the moment.

My brother sent me the latest NFT numbers and basically asked: “The market got crushed. Why are you still buying?” Fair question. And I suspect a lot of collectors hear some version of it from friends and family. My answer is simple: I don’t need “NFTs” as a whole to come back. In fact, I expect an enormous number of projects never will. What interests me is what survives after the speculation gets stripped away. Disney. Marvel. Superman. Batman. Spider-Man. Historically important comics. First appearances. Scarce editions. Meaningful mints. Stories and characters people cared about long before NFTs existed — and I believe will matter long after the acronym disappears from the conversation. I was early. At times, too early. But I’ve stayed because my thesis has become more selective, not less. If digital collecting becomes a lasting medium, I don’t think everything reprices together. I think collectors eventually decide what actually deserves prestige. And when that happens, I’m not convinced the repricing of the truly scarce pieces will be gradual. The technology is new. The collecting instinct isn’t. Maybe the better question isn’t whether NFTs come back. It’s: Which digital collectibles still matter when they do?

ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL COLLECTING Digital collecting offers several advantages over traditional physical collecting: 1) Space-efficient — thousands of collectibles can be stored without physical shelves or storage. 2) Portable & accessible — your collection can be accessed anywhere and anytime. 3) No physical deterioration — no scratches, fading, damage, or aging. 4) Instant transactions — buying, selling, and transferring can happen without shipping. 5) Global marketplace — collectors can participate regardless of geography. 6) Provable scarcity & ownership — edition sizes, rarity, and ownership can be digitally tracked. 7) Easy management — collections can be searched, sorted, displayed, and organized digitally. 8) Interactive experiences — collectibles can include animation, sound, AR, games, and other functionality. 9) Potential utility — collectibles can provide access, rewards, memberships, experiences, or virtual-world functionality. 10) Greater display possibilities — collectors can create digital galleries and virtual exhibitions. 11) Lower physical risk — no concerns about theft, fire, flooding, shipping damage, or moving large collections. 12) Potentially lower entry costs — digital versions can make certain characters and IPs accessible at different price points. 13) Constant evolution — digital collectibles can potentially gain new features and experiences over time. SUMMARY: The biggest advantage: digital collectibles aren't limited to being objects you own. They can combine scarcity + ownership + 3D + animation + sound + AR + interactivity + utility + community into a single collectible experience. In other words, physical collecting preserves the object; digital collecting can expand the object into an experience. x.com/ovninoir/status/208321…

NFTs are coming back. But I don't think the biggest opportunity will necessarily be finding the next hyped NFT project. I think it could be finding the things that will matter historically. 🧵👇

Seriously, @X ?? 🤡🤡🤡🤡 All of my content is made from scratch. My cosplays, my ideas, my materials, my photos… and I deliberately DO NOT use AI. I’m not interested in generating something in seconds and calling it creativity. I enjoy the process, the handmade work, and all the imperfections that make a creation truly mine. And now X is labeling my content as AI-generated? 🥴 Meanwhile, fully AI-generated content keeps being treated as “original.” What an irony 😒😒 (It was supposed to be a post wishing you all a wonderful Thursday 😖)
