Family-run pub in the heart of Dublin. Great art, great conversation, great service, great pints, great toasties. More active on Instagram groganscastlelounge
Pubs.
Old, beautiful, mesmeric.
Life-affirming.
Many waste their days fretting about some imaginary evil of indulgence.
As an older man, a viewpoint.
We all die.
Only some live.
This is living.
Yoga for the soul.

A glorious and teeming cold house for dry January's humourless self-flagellation.
Even on an early New Year, Tuesday, a house that celebrates a lust for life.
Porter and books and good company and laughter.
Forever a theatre of joy.
On behalf of Karl, Donal, Eoin and the whole team at Grogans, as well as the wider Kennedy & Smith families, we wish all of our dear customers, suppliers and friends a very Happy Christmas.
See you all again when we reopen on the 27th🎄

🎅🎄It’s the most wonderful time of the year🤶🎄
Our Christmas Art Show will take place on Sunday 7th December.
Artwork is now being accepted behind the bar for this year’s show. Please ensure the artist name, number and price is attached.
Look forward to seeing you there🎄
Wonderful to see Paddy Finnegan once more. More than a poet (who even penned an ode on being banned from McDaid’s) he became one of Grafton Street’s eternal characters. Painting by Brian MacMahon and image by Eoin Kennedy of @GrogansPub. Sadly, it’s sold.
Lots of people in touch with us about this much appreciated inclusion in The SpeciaList list of 5 best pubs in Dublin on BBC Travel today.
Big thanks to @daltbot5000 for putting us in there, especially in such exalted company 🙏🏻

I am delighted to announce The Dublin Pub has been nominated for Best History Book at @IrishBookAward. It is a love letter to an institution, the Dublin pub.
The book is dedicated to the memory of my late friend Tommy Smith. You can vote for it here: irishbookawards.ie/vote/
My friend Joey Magic is one of the people immortalised in the stained glass window in Grogan’s. The history of these artworks is my favourite chapter in The Dublin Pub. Anyway tonight, while celebrating the Irish Book Awards shortlisting, he finally stood beside it for a photo!
Thanks so much to Grogans, projecting this beautiful image of Paddy O'Brien from the book onto their wall. I loved Tommy Smith so much and I still miss him. It meant more than words can express to see it up there.
What a brilliant ode to our remarkable city. It’s not perfect, but by Jaysus, there’s still lots to love about her.

🌞”Some of the most coveted outdoor seats in town”.
🌞”Unbeatable people-watching and an almost festival vibe on a sunny day”
We’ll take that!
Thanks to the folks at @Independent_ie for the lovely words about our outdoor seating areas on South William St & Castle Market 👌🏻🍺🌞
