Today is the autumnal equinox! At exactly 8:05pm the sun will be directly over the equator as it passes from the northern to southern hemisphere. Equinox means “equal night”, but we don’t have equal day/night until later this week due to our latitude. That day is called equilox.

@Anika_Climate (who is not a climate scientist and never has been), says she is proud to become a member of the CO2 Coalition.
They are a fossil fuel propaganda group and one of the worst sources of easily refuted disinformation & fraudulent graphs about climate change.

FALSE.
According to where we are in the cycles, the Earth should be COOLING.
Instead, the Earth is warming mostly due to humans burning fossil fuels and increasing the 'greenhouse' effect.

D-O events occurred in a glacial maximum (ice age) climate and are linked to AMOC/ocean circulation changes, with CO2 acting mainly as a feedback.
They are not a forcing and not an analogue for today’s global warming driven by CO2 radiative forcing.
The 8–16C spikes are Greenland only (GISP2).
Global temperature changes were modest, not abrupt or synchronous.

Fascinating. I have an original copy of a book (yet to read) written in the 1800s by a man who charted the weather in the state for many decades.
Re-reading 'The Diary of an Isle Royale School Teacher' when Dorothy Simonson & her 6 yr old son, spent the school year on the island, Sep1932-May1933. She lists high temps from Nov 5-Apr29. -43°F Feb10,33 but some winter days in the 60s. (-38 at noon Feb 9,33)

Bush, a Republican, and Obama, a Democrat, met privately for about 30 minutes ahead of the wider gathering.
Then former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, both Democrats, and Republican George H.W. Bush, the current president’s father, met Bush and Obama in the Oval Office for a photo session with journalists.
It was the first such gathering of former U.S. heads of state at the White House in 27 years.
“I want to thank the president-elect for joining the ex-presidents for lunch,” the younger Bush told Obama, who stood next to him, nodding.

Another tremendous tribute. The entire bowling bowling world (myself included) has posted about Randy. He had that kind of impact on people. One of my favorite quotes is:“People won’t remember what you said, but they’ll ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.” That was Randy.

Spot on, Dave. Mitch Albom once wrote that when somebody dies suddenly, what hurts most isn’t that you didn’t get to say goodbye, but that you said your last hello and didn’t know it. So incredibly true in this case. Randy was the best.
Randy Pedersen had a broadcast career that deserves to be mentioned among the greatest ever, regardless of sport. I treasured our on and off air relationship and will miss him terribly. 💔

What a beautiful tribute. Even though I heard the news yesterday, I still woke up in shock today. Your journey here was far too short, but you sure made a lot of people smile…Rest In Peace, my friend.
Today we mourn the sudden loss of our friend Randy Pedersen. He was a great bowler and entertainer both on and off the lanes. A man with a 1000 stories, Randy was THE voice of the PBA for 25 years, serving as an anchor through many years of changes in the booth.

The PBA is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Randy Pedersen, who was among the most important professional bowling figures of the past 40 years.
Pedersen won 13 PBA Tour titles during his Hall of Fame playing career, then transitioned to television where he became the longest-tenured broadcaster in PBA history.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones.

This news hits hard. Everybody loved Randy Pedersen…the room lit up when he walked in. And he was an absolute legend doing color commentary on the @PBATour and @usbc telecasts. We’ve lost one of the really good ones. Rest in Peace, my friend. 😢
RIP in an absolute legend in our sport. It was an honor to know him and spend time with him. Randy Pedersen, you will be missed by many.

Gotta have options. The one I started with in warm-ups wasn’t reacting like I wanted it to, so I switched to another ball that did much better. Then in the third game as the oil lessened, I switched to another ball. It all worked: 214, 233, 244. Good start to the season!
