It’s not enough to simply follow the instructions and do what is expected of you. You have to take initiative, take risks, and show your personality if you want to succeed.
That’s the biggest difference I see between Adeyemi and Gordon right now.
Adeyemi is always trying to make something happen. He makes runs, asks for the ball, takes on defenders, shoots, and isn’t afraid to try something even if it might not work. He doesn’t hide from mistakes. He keeps taking responsibility and looking for ways to hurt the opposition.
Gordon, meanwhile, seems too focused on playing it safe. He often chooses the simple option instead of taking that extra step, making the risky run, or trying to create something himself. It’s not about him lacking ability I just want to see more personality and initiative from him.
Adeyemi can be chaotic and even wasteful at times, but that chaos makes him difficult to defend. You never know what he’s going to try next.
Gordon is more of a “1+1=2” player right now. He does what’s in front of him, but he needs to start going beyond that.
And honestly, if I have a game tomorrow a semi-final or a final and you ask me who I’m picking, I’m taking Adeyemi without hesitation.
All I want from Gordon is to be himself, trust his ability, take risks, and stop being afraid of making mistakes. Because if he continues playing this cautiously, the starting spot will remain a long way away.
