It was to us as well. We were doing experiments under the assumption that the nucleus is denser, which never worked. Until we measured it directly.

… the nucleus is not as dense as the cytoplasm - true for all eukaryotic cells - and the ratio is always 0.8. Go figure...

Yes, there seems to be a correlation between cell deformability and cancer progression. So far only explored in cell lines though, as far as I know. So, more work with patient samples required. This is the starting point of that journey.
