Managing noise is a core responsibility for
@HeathrowAirport, and with evolving regulatory expectations and increasingly engaged local communities, effective noise monitoring is becoming a growing priority for airports worldwide. To help inform future approaches, an independent benchmarking review, The Next Generation of Airport Noise Monitoring, has been published by
@Arup.
Commissioned by the independent Chair of Heathrow's Noise and Airspace Community Forum (NACF), the review provides an evidence-based assessment of how Heathrow compares with 13 leading international airports. It highlights areas where Heathrow is performing strongly, while also identifying opportunities for future development and discussion.
Jonathan Pam, Operational Impacts and Community Engagement Lead, Noise and Communities, said: "The report recognises the strength of Heathrow’s current noise monitoring system and identifies areas for further discussion and development. Many of these themes align with work already underway through Your Area, WebTrak, xPlane, the community noise monitoring programme and our wider engagement review."
"We will consider the findings carefully with NACF attendees and use them to inform future priorities. We will also share a clear response showing how we have considered the recommendations, where they align with existing activity, and where further work with community members would add the most value. Our aim is not only to provide more data, but to build trust in what the data shows, what it does not show, and how it informs future decisions."
