(1) Based on using five different types of connected speech as input for a RobBERT-based classification setup, we found that autobiographical interviews📜consistently outperformed the commonly used Cookie Theft scene descriptions🍪
(2) We saw that a preceding AD classification task in a sequential setup may refine the performance of amyloid status classification in cognitively healthy individuals 🧠
Speech-based detection of Alzheimer’s disease is neat, but (1) how is the performance affected by different types of connected speech? 🗣️ and (2) do speech biomarkers relate to structural MRIs? 🧠
Feel free to stop by poster 496 at #AAIC today to find out more 💬
Attending #NeurIPS2023 ?
Come and check our paper which reconstructs high resolution viewed images from human brain activities! Our work significantly outperform previous SOTA in decoding accuracy by 39.34%. ID is 431!

Super grateful to all the kind people who stopped by at my poster at #SNL2023 today, it‘s been very encouraging ☺️ (+bonus view of the old port of Marseille right outside of where I’ve had my poster session)
Excited for #ECAI next week (my first in-person conference!), where I will present our accepted paper on neural fits between fMRI data and sentence embeddings 🧠🤖
I am hiring two PhD students in multilingual #nlproc based @CW_KULeuven! Info and application link: kuleuven.be/personeel/jobsit… Deadline 8/09. RTs and sharing on other social media appreciated! Note that I am on parental leave and therefore slow at answering emails/DMs etc.
Today is officially the first day of my @FWOVlaanderen fundamental research PhD fellowship 👩🎓 I’m very grateful for this opportunity and excited to link sentence understanding in language models 🤖 and in the human brain 🧠
Today at #kinderuniversiteit, our postdoc Jolien and PhD students Laure and Helena organized a journey through the past and present of brain imaging for kids together with the lab for Neuropathology @KU_Leuven 🧠🧲🧭
1/2 I am pleased to announce that our paper, STonKGs, got published in Bioinformatics!📈Again, I would like to thank all of the collaborators for making this possible. academic.oup.com/bioinformat…
2/2 Moreover, I am looking forward to present ProtSTonKGs at the @SWAT4HCLS conference next week. In short, ProtSTonKGs is an extension of STonKGs that further incorporates protein sequence data into a shared input sequence that is fed into a joint cross encoder.
1/6 Happy to present our new preprint, STonKGs. STonKGs is a novel multimodal Transformer that combines information from both biomedical text and Knowledge Graphs (KGs). biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
