And there were already major questions about whether it was helping these patients at all. The WHO’s massive international Solidarity trial—conducted across more than 30 countries—found that remdesivir had little or no effect on mortality, initiation of ventilation, or duration of hospitalization in hospitalized COVID patients. The WHO subsequently issued a conditional recommendation against its use in hospitalized patients. At the same time, studies and pharmacovigilance data were raising concerns about renal injury and other adverse effects. So why were we administering an IV antiviral to critically ill patients late in the course of disease—when the largest global evidence was showing little or no meaningful benefit in hospitalized patients and legitimate safety concerns were being raised? @PierreKory was treating these patients. On Wednesday, September 30th, at about 2:18 in the morning, John was in his Tahoe on Highway 6, handing food to a woman. Police say a man walked up to the passenger side and DEMANDED MONEY. John tried to drive away and he was SH0T in the neck. His Tahoe crashed through 2 fences and into a field, he passed away right there and then. Police caught the suspect nearby. His name is Otis Parks, he's a Black man that's 30 years old. In 2018, police say Parks ST*BBED a friend REPEATEDLY... after finding out his girlfriend's baby had diaper rash.
