Cybersecurity researcher: I found that Flock did not require their clients to use multi-factor authentication. This led me to find Flock law enforcement accounts for sale by a Russian vendor on a dark web marketplace. In addition to this, we found insufficiently protected sensitive information stored on Flock cameras, including photos, license plate data, logs, API keys, passwords, and communications.

Flock reportedly has more than 120,000 cameras generating about 20 billion scans a month. I'm less interested in which political side suddenly dislikes it. How did a privately operated, searchable network tracking vehicle movements get this large before we decided what the rules should be?

Flock didn't get hacked, they left the front door open and the porch light on. No MFA, cop logins for sale on a Russian dark web store, license plates and passwords just sitting there. You built a surveillance state and couldn't even lock the trailer it's parked in.

Police have been arresting the wrong people. Often throwing people in jail for days before they verify that they have the wrong person.

This is some real bullshit and I'm tired of Congress doing nothing. The amount of constant surveillance we are under at all times is outrageous. Even worse, they don't even try to protect our data. It's either deliberate or complete incompetence. I really don't care. Ban it all.

So basically what you are saying is a local stalker can use flock data to find you AND an international criminal can do the same thing. Huh.

Cybersecurity guy here: I’m glad we’re pointing out all these issues with Flock cameras, but now’s probably a good time to point out that access to MANY cameras exist on dark web and public forums. Not just flock ones, sometimes it’s the cheap ones you personally buy on Amazon.

They don't care about people's data being secure, they only want to be able to use the data themselves, quickly. They have no intention of being a security based company, just a data gathering one

Guess we should charge Musk and Flock with multiple felonies for selling our sensitive data.

The same Senate hearing also heard from Lindsey Isaacs, the Florida woman who spent 13 days in jail after Flock cameras flagged her black Dodge Durango near a fatal I-4 crash. Witnesses described a maroon Durango with a different partial plate, her vehicle had no matching damage, and charges were later dropped. curiouscats.ai/live/florida+…

So we are now being stalked by other countries as much as our own. A small child could tell you how stupid this is and why.

What doesn't make sense to me is that PII laws don't allow me to send a message with a license plate number in the body of it at work, but it's apparently ok for videos of license plates to be stored and shared all over the place without security measures.

Flock will be just like vaccines for democrats. They will rail against it with all their might until they’re the ones in power, then it’ll be mandatory.

All Flock executives, elected officials who have made deals with Flock to install cameras in their cities, and all law enforcement officials that use Flock should be sent to prison for the rest of their lives.

Here’s the thing about the Flock argument. There is actual power and energy amongst the people on the ground trying to get states to break this contracts. But the issue is that almost all the outrage you see on social media is almost entirely fabricated. Why do I say that? Because when the states do end their relationships with Flock, they’re not getting rid of the cameras lmao they’re instead replacing them with Axon cameras. A rival company to flock with majority position in the company held by Trump and other Trump affiliates. You’re seeing this shit on purpose. You’re being Shepard into outrage so that these states can end their contracts with Flock and sign new contracts with Axon… That’s why they’re letting you cut these cameras down.

I have searched the extensively online and I have not found one single case that would not have been solved without flock cameras. Zero. There are some where they say it assisted but none that would have hinged on flock alone. Look up how many cameras they have and how much data

ALL DUE TO A FLOCK ERROR! (Listen to her testimony) * Wrongfully arrested. * Placed in solitary confinement for 3-1/2 days. * Forced to wear a blue suicide prevention dress. * Then moved into a mental health unit. Federal lawmakers who listened on were shocked. This could happen to you or someone you love. And, it is only going to get worse if not stopped.
