Two good bills to advance homeschool freedom are pending! Will Estrada, HSLDA Senior Counsel, Elaina Kilker, HSLDA Legislative Affairs Coordinator, and Ashley Skinner, HSLDA intern, have an update after visiting DC: S. 3747, the Homeschool Graduation Recognition Act, will ensure that homeschool graduates are considered high school graduates for the purposes of federal law. This bill has already unanimously passed the House of Representatives and the Senate Education Committee, and is pending on the Senate floor. S. 4783, the COMPASS Act, will allow military homeschool families the option to choose to follow the homeschool law of their state of legal residence when they move on official military orders. We are working to get this bill included as an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
