I just saw that the Americans hit an all-time high for the US diesel, and they are freaking out over a price at around $6.45 per gallon. Here in Norway🇳🇴 diesel is around 30 NOK per liter right now — roughly $12 per gallon. And this is Norway. One of the richest countries on earth. A country built on oil and gas. A country where the state expects roughly NOK 686 billion in net petroleum cash flow in 2026. Yet ordinary Norwegians can still pay close to twice the US price for diesel. Norway has also built one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, largely from petroleum revenues. So when Americans say $6.30 diesel is unbearable, I get it. But imagine living in an oil nation, surrounded by petroleum wealth, and still seeing $11–12+ per gallon at the pump. That’s Norway. 🇳🇴 Being a rich country does not automatically mean living cheaply.
