Big day for tokenization, and close to the best outcome we could have asked for.
The SEC approved its Innovation Exemption today. For the next five years, permissioned onchain venues in the US can trade stocks in token form.
Three things matter the most here.
> The order expressly allows third-party tokenization
> The token must carry the same rights as the share
> Price exposure alone does not qualify
That is the model Dinari's dShares™ are built on: real shares held in custody, with the rights represented onchain. 724 stocks have been live for eligible US investors since August for the first time, through our SEC-registered transfer agent and US broker-dealer.
What today gives us is a path to make dShares™ transferable onchain in the US, without changing the core model we already built.
The winners are investors and builders. More competition, more programmable markets, fewer closed rails. The ones left out are synthetic stock products. And in time, any business that relies on your stocks being stuck in one place will have to compete to keep them.
Stocks have worked the same way for 400 years. Today they took a real step toward doing more.
