Imagine first they said Brexit will solve our problems and than they are coming for our human rights. Welcome to Brexit Britain 🇬🇧.

Interesting they have gone from pretending that they're going to process the asylum seekers in Rwanda to saying that they're just trying to remove them altogether.

An admission the Tories know their Rwanda scheme is in contravention of all accepted norms of human rights and international law.

No one voted for this. ECHR were designed to protect us from governments and politicians such as Braverman. This is unacceptable!

Thank goodness she's gone (from the leadership race at least)

Tories - do they remind you of anything?

@SuellaBraverman I’m assuming that’s kinda the point of the ECHR? Stops reprehensible individuals such as yourself doing horrific things to other human being. Rather than moaning about that, maybe rethink your policy so it’s not “vulnerable to human rights”? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Correct. She doesn't say anything about who those people are. ECHR protects us all against fascists like Braverman.

Whichever of the remaining gargoyles wins the Tory leadership race the first thing they should do is sack this idiot.

So we all have to lose our human rights, leave the ECHR and turn ourselves into a pariah state so we can deprive asylum seekers of their rights and deport them to Rwanda. It follows so logically, doesn’t it?

She must be related to Pol Pot Patel. They both seem to hate asylum seekers

@SuellaBraverman, if a policy breaches an internationally accepted standard on human rights, established after WWII by Churchill among others, is it perhaps conceivable that that policy is an affront to any reasonable understanding of human rights?

As always; “I like my human rights but I don’t like that it gives rights to those I don’t see as human”

Just a thought and not trying to be contentious but would people like Braverman and Patel's families be safe if ECHR is removed?

That's all this Rwanda policy is about isn't it. An excuse to take away our human rights and make up their own

She appears to think that these things she's saying are acceptable in a modern society. All of the candidates appear to have forgotten that there is a wider public listening beyond the base of the Tory Party she's pitching to.

Just look at this horrible indeed vile woman spouting her hatred! So pleased she's out of the running as I don't think I could stand to see or hear much more of her.

I was told the only time she has been in court was to fight a parking ticket, her QC was gifted with her AG job.

How can leaving the ECHR even be considered. It’s truly, truly awful for us all! 😞

@SuellaBraverman - I assume you would deport #MoFarah as well then. Or, if not, how many medals do people of colour need to win for you to consider them as British as me?

International law & ECHR is there to prevent people like me doing the sort of things we want to do to vulnerable refugees. So, rather than have a fair & easy to access immigration policy, which would mean around 85% would remain, which we don’t want, let’s get rid of ECHR

So she doesn’t want people in the U.K. to have human rights?! I feel like this may have happened in the 1930s…

This is why any leader who advocates leaving the ECHR should be strongly resisted They’ve wound people up against immigrants so they can garner support for leaving the ECHR. Turkeys voting for xmas
#THREAD Given the UK Govt's deeply concerning & increasingly antidemocratic & authoritarian tendencies, concerned citizens need to better understand the European Convention on Human Rights - & know that it was driven by Britons in the aftermath of WWII. eachother.org.uk/wrote-europ…
