Sam Harris is right: “By merely being [on X] and making it seem like everyone has to be there because everyone is there, you are helping to build the tool that is making fact-based conversation impossible.” youtu.be/txjr4IdCao8?si=m9qi…

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

Putin invading Ukraine
Car fire at the Wawa in Northampton, PA, yesterday. I’m genuinely not trying to be funny at all, but is it normal for a firefighter to have this much difficulty controlling the hose?

Nazi Germany voted away its democracy, Britain voted away its prosperity, and US voted away both. Propaganda kills & troll farms are a weapon of war. Half measures and civilian online defence isn’t enough. We can’t win a war against an enemy that controls our minds.

Ukraine gave up the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal. In return, it received security assurances. Decades later, Ukrainians are hiding From missiles fired by one of the countries that signed them. Remember that when people talk about “guarantees”

How Russian propaganda works abroad, in one sentence per layer: For the right: "Russia defends tradition." For the left: "NATO caused this." For the pacifist: "Weapons prolong war." For the cynic: "Everyone lies equally." For the tired: "It's complicated." Five contradictory messages, one output: do nothing. Russian propaganda doesn't need you to love Moscow. It needs you paralyzed — and it has a script for whichever ideology you brought to the table. Whenever a take ends in "therefore, inaction," check the return address.

Before WWII, many leaders believed Hitler and his allies could be appeased — that they would eventually change course. Today, russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are openly coordinating, waging cyberattacks, hybrid warfare, disinformation campaigns, and supporting each other's aggression. History has shown the cost of ignoring an expanding authoritarian alliance. We should not have to learn that lesson twice.

Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris." The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones. This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

No, this isn’t a photo of the Wildberries warehouse in Moscow from last week. It’s a photo of the Wildberries warehouse in Krasnodar from today. To the question, “But why are the Ukrainians attacking civilian targets?” the answer is as follows: Wildberries is a kind of Amazon. It has massive warehouses where goods from China arrive and are resold by russian merchants. Those goods are also dual-use goods. “Dual-use” is the term for civilian products that can be used for military purposes. DJI drones, for example, are dual-use products because they can be used to film a wedding or to surveil enemy trench positions. Wildberries’ warehouses serve as the gateway for dual-use products worth billions of dollars used by the russian military. From thermal cameras to controllers, 3D printers, components, or entire drones, and much, much more. This is the main reason. The secondary reason, publicly stated by the operations coordinator Robert Magyar himself, is to send the message that the war has returned home to russia. “Well then, in Ukraine too, the Nova Poshta or Epicenter warehouses—or others—are legitimate targets for the russians, aren’t they?” No. Nothing in Ukraine is a legitimate target for the russians. Ukraine is attacking these warehouses, just as it attacks russia’s commercial ships in the Shadow Fleet, and just as it attacks military targets—because it has been attacked. Ukraine’s strikes are acts of self-defense. russia’s strikes are violations of all international norms, as this is an illegitimate, unprovoked, illegal, and immoral war. Slava Ukraini!

I can't with these videos of Russians standing in fuel lines whining, "But why are they bombing us? What did we doooooo?" You invaded a sovereign state. You destroyed the peaceful lives of 40 million people. You leveled our towns and cities. Your scorched-earth bombings turned a once-blooming land into a wasteland visible from space. Most importantly, you are actively killing us right now, and you dare to ask that question? Life is a boomerang, babe. What karma fails to deliver, our armed forces will. Unless you all pack up and go home.

HOST: Do you think Trump is pro-Russian? APPLEBAUM: I think he's pro-Putin. He admires leaders who have no checks and balances, who aren't part of democratic system, who are in control of the media. He also had very long business relationship with Russians. They were among the most important investors in his apartments in the 1990s and 2000s. He also has kind of idealized image of Russia. Funnily enough, I don't think it has anything to do with conservative values. I think it's just because he likes this strongman ideal. And because he's grateful to Russians for having built his business, and maybe because he expects to do business with Russia in the future.

As I’ve said since that first Trump term, we may never know why Trump is so loyal to Putin. Bribery? Blackmail? Affinity for dictators & oligarchs? KGB asset? All of the above? More important is stopping him, because if he were a Russian agent, what would he do differently?
Trump has been threatening such reductions to a number of European and Asian allies going back to his first term. This particular announcement comes the same day he spoke with Putin - and it’s a development Russia would certainly welcome.

If you look at the agendas that are being pushed in waves by the fake bot armies on Twitter, who do you think is behind it? - Make US Americans and Europeans hate each other - The USA should leave NATO - The EU must be dismantled - Orban is a hero - Ukraine is evil. Russia is our friend It is so obvious. And by the way, this is exactly why the EU has fined Twitter for lack of transparency. To protect free speech, we must protect the public debat from fake bots that are used actively by the enemies of the free world to divide and weaken it.
