Methinks a Michael Jackson song & lyrics befitting this scenario - the Man(in this instance woman) in the Mirror “I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could have been any clearer If you wanna make the world a better place Take a look at yourself and then make a change” A reflection & perspective from a NZ Māori woman (former) lawyer (& politician) several years, decades & generations of life & lived experience senior to this junior Māori woman lawyer. Seems my standing up for NZers & NZ as a NZFirst candidate has struck a nerve with some of the ‘left’-overs woke element in Whanganui. Seldom do I retort with a comment on social media, however, Whanganui is my turangawaewae my standing ground of generations long before any of the woke lot & their type existed or even arrived here. I am not going to stand by nor succumb to their propaganda, fabrications, deliberate distortions & malice which they engage to validate what little there is to validate of their political agenda. I stood up and stand by the honour of my action & intent during the COVID conflict & covertness - making a principled stand for democracy. And I do so again. I will not be shut down and framed to be someone I am not. I remain experienced, principled & grounded.
