If you had a chance to ride in a Navy Airplane and Make an arrested landing on an aircraft carrier, would you: - say "Thanks, but..." -say "Let me think about it..." - say "When do we go?!!!"

The F-4 Phantom is widely regarded as one of the loudest military aircraft ever produced. During takeoff and military power, it generates a deafening 140 to 150 decibels (dB) at close range, which is at the threshold of immediate eardrum rupture.Because sound intensity operates on a logarithmic scale, this raw noise output puts it in a unique tier of extreme volume:At 50 feet (Afterburner): Reaches up to 150 dB, making it comparable to an aircraft carrier deck or standing near a raw, roaring jet at full military throttle. Landing Signal Officers (LSOs) on Aircraft Carriers had no ear protection.

Veterans are Thankful, Grateful, and Mistified. I knew too many who didn't make it. I had my share of close calls that could have taken me. Why me.....?

When I was Muslim, I used to ask Christians: “If Jesus was really God, why did He eat, sleep, and bleed like us?” And honestly, I used to ask it with pride like it was some unbeatable argument. But later I realized something: That question was not exposing Christianity. It was exposing my misunderstanding of what kind of God Jesus claimed to be. Because the real question is not: “Why would God become weak?” The real question is: “What kind of God would willingly step into human suffering at all?” Islam taught me about a God who was distant and untouchable. But Christianity introduced me to a God who stepped into hunger, exhaustion, grief, pain, betrayal, blood, and suffering with us. And suddenly His humanity stopped feeling like weakness to me. It became proof of love. If Jesus ate, it means He came close enough to experience hunger beside us. If He slept, it means He embraced the exhaustion we carry. If He bled, it means He did not stand above suffering watching us from a distance. He entered it Himself. Philippians 2 says Christ emptied Himself and took on flesh. Not because He stopped being God, but because He wanted humanity to finally see what God is actually like. And it turns out God is willing to suffer for the people He loves. That changed everything for me. Because every other religion demanded sacrifice from humanity. Jesus became the sacrifice Himself. And no prophet in history ever claimed that.

In 1970 I entered Navy Aviation Officer Training School in Pensacola FL. Out of our class of 60 there were 4 who couldn't swim. Can I just recommend, if you cannot swim, DON'T join the Navy. Two of them washed out and the other 2 learned to swim in a hurry. I cannot imaging doing the dilbert dunker as a non-swimmer but they did. youtu.be/aUoLTGQA_jk

Setting inter-service aside - when someone has served his or her county, (whether Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines or Coast Guard) they are on my list of Brothers or Sisters. May God bless them all!!!

Can I tell you a story about this sweet, gentle Lab? As a puppy he was loving and cuddly with everyone. One evening as my wife and I were watching TV, Murphy was sound asleep on the floor. Our front door was not fully latched and a strong gust of wind blew it open with a loud bang. My wife jumped and let out a startled gasp. Our sweet, gentle Lab came out of a sound sleep, leaped to his feet, the hair on his back standing straight up and he let out the most menacing gutteral growls I have ever heard as he started moving aggressively toward the door. There is no doubt he was going to attack anything that came around the corner. My love for the breed was cast in stone from that moment on. He died of old age many years ago but lives on in great memories.

What would you guess is the most dangerous part of flying off of an aircraft carrier?

The greatest number of accidents statistically are during the return to the ship and moving into the marshall pattern. When you get there you are assigned an altitude but before that there are aircraft flying different speeds and approaching from different locations and altitudes. It is a "head on a constant swivel, left, right, up and down."

Tonkin Gulf we launched and moments later GrayEagle 1 (USS Ranger's Captain) told us to switch to scrambled radio. When we did he told us that the Russian AGI (intelligence ship) had taken a position BETWEEN THE CARRIER AND OUR PLANE GUARD DESTROYER! The Captain said: "Please let them know this is unacceptable ....I'M NOT GOING TO WATCH." We circled back and "rigged them" with passes down their port side, accross the stern, starboard side and over the top close enough that their crew members were diving to the deck as our wingtip passed overhead. Highly illegal but they got the message. The Captain came back and said: "The best rigging I NEVER saw! Bravo Zulu!"
