The net is vast and infinite.

In the 21st century, Hanlon's Razor is broken because malice is cheap at scale.

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it late at nigh, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #Book

Why would I willingly install a rootkit on my machine? It doesn't even prevent cheating. Those games are overrun with cheaters anyway. They have entire PCIe cards just to cheat. "Why aren't you in the crab bucket with us" question.
Ne jamais demandé à un utilisateur linux comment il fait pour jouer à des jeux sous anti cheat

Somewhere a Russian movie producer was told to make a cheap knockoff of Tremors, was drunk while taking notes on the plot, wrote down "broke into wrong rec room, giant snake, big cannons", looked at their notes the next day, and went "...eh, I can work with this."

I was asleep that morning, before school. I did not live in New York. Never have. I was told when I woke that it was an act of terrorism, with a plane. I could still connect the dots properly 10 seconds after waking and my first words were "we should fucking nuke the Taliban."

In the months after, I went back and forth. I was torn between wanting justice and wanting something that I knew was utterly evil to be utterly destroyed, and wanting to be intelligent, analytical, compassionate, restrained, all things I was taught to value.

I am standing here 25 years later, thinking of that morning and the 25 years after it. Some of my friends and classmates went off to war. Most of them came home. Did it really fix anything? 25 years later I have to answer no, it didn't. I had it right in those first 10 seconds.

I remember this series starting* on the PS1 with a Cold War-esque stealth thriller, played fairly straight. I didn't play it, but I know the gist. I'm seriously baffled about when and how that series turned into...whatever this is. (*OGs know it started on NES)
So nice to see this awesome Raiden Vs Vamp cutscene in higher framerate now in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2's MGS4! Been enjoying my run so far on PS5 Pro <3 #MetalGearSolid4 #MGS4 #MetalGearRaiden #MetalGearVamp #SolidSnake #NaomiHunter #MGS #PS5Pro #PS5Share

It seems like a good time to remind you that if you're a young person who turned against Israel in the last five years, you were the successful target of a coordinated influence operation meant to turn you into a useful idiot for Islamo-Leftist causes.

Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices.

A German-Jewish WWI veteran wears his Iron Cross while a Nazi soldier stands in front of his shop for intimidation, 1933... This photo was taken in April of 1933, during the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses. It was the expression on the shopkeeper’s face that captivated MyHeritage’s Research team: proud, unafraid, smiling wryly, he exudes a quiet power that contrasts starkly with the hunched body language of the Nazi standing nearby. Who was this man? And what became of him in the dark days that followed? The Research team had to find out — and what they uncovered about the rest of the man’s story blew them away. The man’s name was Richard Stern. After being awarded the prestigious Iron Cross for his service in the German army during World War I, he was driven out of his home country by the hateful Nazi regime. The Research team discovered records of Richard arriving at Ellis Island at the age of 40 in May 1939 — narrowly escaping the beginning of the war. In 1942, when Richard was 43 and not yet an American citizen, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to join the war efforts. And not only did he fight against the country he had once been decorated for defending, he was awarded a Silver Star in 1944: the third-highest combat award in the U.S. Army. Research team discovered a newspaper clipping from The Long Island Star-Journal printed on July 6, 1944, describing his service: “The victim of German brutality, 45-year-old Sergeant Richard F. Stern, earned the Silver Star for gallantry in action during an assault Jan. 7 on the slopes of Mount Porchio when in the face of heavy enemy fire he addressed the Germans in their own tongue and demanded that they surrender, convincing them they were hopelessly outnumbered.” Richard did not have any children of his own, but his great-nephew Jack Romberg, a rabbi living in Florida, is well aware of his great-uncle’s actions in the war. He reports that his uncle kept the Silver Star in a box at the bottom of a drawer in a back bedroom — but he did not keep the Iron Cross. Instead, he gave it to the U.S. Army, which was collecting metal to melt down and make into ammunition. That’s right: he turned his German military award into bullets to shoot the Nazis. © The Jewish Observer #archaeohistories
