🚨HEARTBREAKING: Myriam Monsonego was 7. She was running from the gunman at the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school in Toulouse when she tripped on her schoolbag and her ballet slippers fell out. She stopped to pick them up. Mohamed Merah grabbed her by the hair and shot her in the head.
It was March 19, 2012. Merah, 23, had already killed three French soldiers in Toulouse and Montauban. At the school he killed Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and his sons, Gabriel, 4, and Arieh, 5, then Myriam, the head teacher’s daughter. A 17-year-old boy was wounded.
Merah told negotiators he was avenging Palestinian children and France’s wars. Prosecutors said his only regret was not killing more. Police shot him dead on March 22 after a siege at his flat.
Today is the anniversary of a different massacre. Myriam never made it to class. Her slippers were still on the ground.
