RT @JamesAALongman: Russia killed a one year old girl in her stroller today. Her mother died in the hospital a few hours later. https://t.c…

Detta är kanske den mest motbjudande beskrivning av Ryssland som kommer gå att finna i historieböckerna.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."
Community note
Same day a Russian drone killed six civilians, including children, in a Kharkiv region park. Overnight strikes cut power to 550,000 households. Ukrainian civilian casualties up 85% y/y in September. usnews.com/news/world/art… abcnews.com/International/… mb.com.ph/article/109408

A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

In just 10 days, the Trump administration has: - Struck a deal to buy Russian diesel and eased sanctions. - Suspended the bipartisan Graham-Blumenthal Russia sanctions law, just weeks after signing it. - Restricted Ukraine's access to Starshield satellite services. - Suspended intelligence warnings about Russian missile launches targeting Ukraine for several days. - Threatened to cut intelligence sharing unless Ukraine stopped striking Russian oil infrastructure. - Pressured Ukraine to remove Zelenskyy from power. - Downplayed Russia's and China's assistance to Iran in its war against the US, dismissing it as "very little." - Proposed unfreezing Russian sovereign assets and placing some under US control. - Pursued lucrative US-Russia business deals, including cooperation on data centres. - Proposed that Europe resume buying Russian gas as part of a Ukraine peace deal If Trump were actually a Russian agent, what exactly would he be doing differently?

Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!

A historic video of America’s betrayal – November 22, 1994. The U.S. President thanks Ukraine for giving up its nuclear weapons. In return, the U.S. promises to stand by Ukraine’s side to safeguard its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. But instead of defending Ukraine, Trump and his administration have sided with the aggressor against Ukraine.

We don’t use Starlink for our responses inside Russia. We use Starlink to intercept jet-powered “shaheds” that attack our civilians and kill families. Starlink wasn’t turned off – its speed was reduced. And when the speed was reduced, we were unable to intercept a certain number of jet-powered “shaheds.” We couldn’t use a tool that helps protect people. That’s very painful and frustrating. We also use Starlink for mid-range strikes against enemy military targets in our temporarily occupied territories. We couldn’t do that when the restrictions were in place. And third, what matters most is people. Our warriors, who spend weeks and months on the front line, receive food and water delivered by drones using Starlink. Has the speed been fully restored to what it was before? No. Is it being restored now? Yes. From a conversation with media representatives in Brussels. (2/3)

Putin has issued an order to make major Ukrainian cities uninhabitable, according to a report by *The Guardian*. The plan devised by the Russian terrorists involves destroying electricity, water, and heating supplies, as well as sewage systems. Russia has already calculated the number of missiles and drones required to strike specific infrastructure targets. A particular focus is placed on Kyiv: in a worst-case scenario, the city could face power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day. This creates the risk of a humanitarian crisis and could force people to flee the cities. Since Western Europe has so far merely looked on without taking active measures against Russia, the mayors of all European cities should prepare for the arrival of at least 20 million Ukrainian refugees.

Ukraine is asking the EU for 70 billion euros to continue fighting in 2027. That is 0.4% of the EU GDP or 155 euros per European. Not having a battle-hardened victorious Russian army on Europe's border is worth roughly 2000% of the EU GDP. Our leaders must find the money.

I appreciate the position of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson @SwedishPM: it is important to increase pressure on Russia and step up support for Ukraine, not the other way around. This is exactly what Europe’s collective response to Russia’s escalation should be. We discussed in detail what we need to defend ourselves against constant attacks, first and foremost, stronger air defenses. I thank Sweden for our agreements on Gripen fighter jets. We expect deliveries soon. They will complement our F-16s, particularly in shooting down jet-powered “shaheds.” We also focused on our path to EU membership and support for our energy sector as we prepare for winter. I am grateful to the people of Sweden, the government, and Ulf personally for their support for Ukraine and our joint efforts to ensure Europe’s security.

Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power. The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences. It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters. Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

Donald Trump has stated that he does not want to deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky because he believes Zelensky is unwilling to negotiate with Russia. Trump also described Ukraine’s successful defense against the Russian offensive on Kyiv at the beginning of the full-scale invasion as a matter of luck. According to Ukrainska Pravda, Trump made these remarks in an interview with Newsmax. Trump claimed that Zelensky is "not the person we should be dealing with." He suggested that if a peace agreement with Russia is eventually reached, it will happen without the involvement of Ukraine’s current president. "He doesn't want to make a deal. He says he wants to make a deal, but he doesn't. No, I'm not a big fan of Zelensky," the US president said. Trump also claimed that the root cause of the war was Barack Obama's presidency, during which Ukraine was supposedly "forced to give up Crimea." The White House leader described the temporarily occupied peninsula as "the most beautiful piece of land," surrounded by ocean on all sides. "Crimea is certainly the most valuable part of Ukraine. Ocean on four sides. That's right. The most beautiful piece of land. I'm a developer. I know... I certainly understand good land," Trump declared. Furthermore, the American president attributed the failure of Russia's blitzkrieg against Kyiv in 2022 to weather conditions. "But it was supposed to be a very quick, you know, a very quick war. And if you remember how the tanks were moving down the highway straight toward Kyiv, if the general, who obviously wasn't a very good general, hadn't turned right onto farmland that was completely soaked by the heaviest rains in Kyiv... I don't know whether you can call that luck or not, frankly." During the interview, Trump once again criticized Ukrainian Defense Forces' strikes on Russian oil refineries. "I want Zelensky to stop, and I want the same from Putin. Now, if you're telling me that Zelensky is hitting oil refineries again, all he's accomplishing is driving up global oil prices. I think it's just a disgrace," Trump said. According to the White House leader, Zelensky should make concessions to Putin because Moscow has significantly greater manpower reserves in a war of attrition. "The truth is that Russia is a huge country, and Russia can lose a million people, and there are many millions more behind them," Trump declared. A sick man. A sick and extremely dangerous man. However, it seems clear that the results of the US elections on November 3 might provide him with a much-needed dose of political medicine…

Reuters now reports that the order to restrict Ukraine’s Starshield came from inside the Trump White House. Think about what that means. Russia invades a European democracy, bombs its cities and kills its civilians. The White House responds by restricting technology Ukraine uses for strike missions and even interceptor drones, while simultaneously pressuring Kyiv to stop hitting Russian refineries. I am very glad my family name is not attached to this administration. History has a remarkably long memory for people who accommodate aggressors while putting pressure on their victims. Eighty years after the Second World War, the names of prominent collaborators with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan are still remembered with contempt. Their descendants are not responsible for what they did. But the names survived. Collaboration with an aggressor has never been a particularly clever strategy for securing a good historical reputation. Something worth thinking about.
