Today, I want to honor Columbia student Emma Sulkowicz, who carried a mattress around campus as a performance-art protest over the university’s handling of her se*ual-assault allegation against fellow student Paul Nungesser.
Columbia investigated the allegation and found Nungesser “not responsible”, he was never criminally charged.
Nungesser later sued Columbia, and reached a confidential settlement in 2017.

I dont think people understand that most newsrooms have policies against monetizing your social media/ or having public tip jars -- and unless you're on a contract guest appearances on (American) TV/radio/pods don't pay.
people have said it before but the whole shortform video / youtube / podcast content industry is so extractive of actual newsroom labor, and as far as I can tell very few of those studios have hard news operations, reporters / checkers / researchers...

New York State rape law unfortunately has a voluntary intoxication loophole in that a person is only considered unable to consent to sexual activity if they are intoxicated due to a substance administered without their knowledge or consent
