Caitlin Clark is already one of the most consequential players in the history of women’s basketball. You can debate where she ranks as a player, but her impact isn’t really debatable. She didn’t just become the biggest star in the sport… she fundamentally changed its scale. And what makes her different is that the attention wasn’t manufactured. People watched because she was spectacular: absurd shooting range, elite passing, swagger, and a style of play that made you afraid to look away. She turned ordinary college games into national events and carried that audience with her to the WNBA. There have been better all-around players and more accomplished pros, but very few athletes in any sport can credibly say the game was one thing before they arrived and something noticeably bigger afterward. Clark is already in that category.
