No, this isn't the new Taylor Swift album cover. I've cleaned-up this remarkable colour photo, taken 113 years ago in August 1913, a year before the First World War. It is a portrait of 16-year-old Christina Bevan at Durdle Door in Lulworth, Dorset. It was taken by Lt-Colonel Mervyn O’Gorman using an early colour glass-plate process and isn't colourised. This is Eden Nimri. She died a hero, confronting terrorists single-handedly saving 17 lives. She was 22. Commander of an all-female team in the elite “Sky Riders” unit. Lover of swimming, fashion, photography…her mom said she had dreams from “here to Honolulu.” But she never had the chance to live those dreams. In the morning of October 7 she woke to the air-raid sirens. Still in her pajamas, she grabbed her rifle, and ran with soldiers to a bomb shelter. There were two entrances to the shelter. She sent a few soldiers to cover one, and she went to the other alone. Eden knew hers was the more dangerous position, but instead of sending one of her soldiers there she took it herself. Minutes later the terrorists came. Eden held off the attackers at her entrance while the women behind her were able to escape. Witnesses said that when she ran out of ammunition she fought with her bare hands. She never made it out of the shelter. She died fighting, and she’s directly credited with saving 17 people. Her family wants her to be remembered for four things: Heroism, Excellence, Courage, and Humility. Today, we remember Eden and all others whose lives were tragically taken on October 7. ❤️‍🩹

💔 Sergeant Eden Alon Levy, 19, a commander in the IDF Home Front Command, was killed on October 7, 2023, while defending the Zikim training base. The Times of Israel also reported that Eden, together with other commanders, directed the new recruits to shelters and took part in the battle against the attackers. Thanks to the actions of the commanders, the base was not overrun and many lives were saved. May her memory be a blessing.💔🙏

Here's Kurt Franz, the head of the Treblinka extermination camp, interviewed in the early 90s: "They were led in there and came up here into the so-called gas chamber, and there they were gassed. That's how it was, and it's a fact, and I won't go back on that." He also served at Belzec, another death camp. After being asked whether the people killed there were criminals, he remembered a mother and daughter who begged for each other's life: "No, I wouldn't say that, because then, in Belzec, I wouldn't have spoken with the woman and her daughter, who each pleaded for the other's life. The daughter pleaded for the mother's life, and the mother for the daughter's." Of the 434,508 Jews sent to Belzec, only 2 (both men) were known to have survived. The mother and daughter who pled with Franz were killed. Holocaust deniers claim Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka were "transit camps", where Jews were sent further east. This is strange because 1. everyone (30ish folks) who was put on trial admitted they were death camps and 2. deniers can't name a single person who was resettled.
