This is the lesson Muslims haven’t learnt.
The supremacist, arrogance and bravado of this mindset started a chain of events that has led the region to the verge of destruction worse than what happened when the Arabs sided with the British against the Ottomans.
The Gulf Arabs got Saddam Hussein to fight for eight years against Iran. They funded and paid for the weapons. Estimates were that up to a million people were killed on both sides. The Gulf states then didn't pay Iraq's debts, so he invaded Kuwait and wanted to head for Saudi Arabia.
Iran, although badly damaged, survived, but Iraq was ultimately destroyed because of Saddam Hussein's commitment to Arab supremacy and hatred of what he saw as "Persians". These days he's become celebrated among certain groups as a "Sunni" hero, although there was not much evidence of Islam during his rule.
That mistake destroyed the region. For all his crimes and despotism, Iraq was a developed country and economy before that mistake was made.
Turkey and Pakistan need to heed the lessons.
