Lena is in her junior year at the University of Michigan pursuing a degree in neuroscience. She is working alongside PhD candidate Paula Reichel looking at the influence of early life skin damage on food allergy sensitization.

For this project she will be learning how to identify inflammation markers to compare skin damage severity during active dermatitis and at baseline. Welcome to the team, Lena!

Dr Hogan and Lukacs recently published a review article in Nature Review Immunology discussing how different routes of exposure to food antigens can contribute to allergic sensitization and describe how mast cells ultimately drive the allergic reaction to these food allergens.
